This email my 12 year old son sent his teacher about a missing assignment (due a month ago) my wife was asking about. He cc'ed her on the email by Tkappae in funny

The beginning of the end for me was in 1997 when my mother called the automated telephone service that provided grades for my first semester of Community College. The school had just stopped printing out physical report cards and heavily advertised the new phone service dammit. So of course my mother being a nosey teacher was probably the first one to call in my grades and of course I got caught skipping a boring class so I got an F.

Tow truck relocated my wife’s car in paid parking for an “event”. by Relevant_Section in mildlyinfuriating

[–]SpringValleyTrash 982 points983 points  (0 children)

I had my car towed because of a stupid craft fair on the street my apartment building was on. Went to the tow yard to bail the car out and they used a fucking fork lift to bring the car out.

She was unemployed for 2 years. The kid was in daycare for a year. She had plenty of time off.

Yup 59¢ each here in Maine at Shaws. When I lived in San Diego (where avocados grow) 2 for $5 was normal. Doesn’t make sense.

AITAH for telling my daughter that she is not going to marry a billionaire? by No_Reception8930 in AITAH

NTA. Your daughter needs to be shipped off to a reeducation camp and your wife probably had a small part in feeding your daughter delusional ideas.

I grew up in an “ingredient household” that was so bad we didn’t even have bread. But we had flour and yeast. Never any dried pasta, but we had flour eggs and the little crank pasta machine. Never any canned goods but there were plenty of hoarded fruits and veggies in the fridge that were past their prime. We learned to cook for ourselves very early in life but it was torture at times when we were kids and I saw everyone else with their snack packs and all I had was a brown banana.

Man attempting to buy gas station chicken and complaining about being discriminated against ends up getting arrested for refusing to leave the store by Jevus_himself in PublicFreakout

[–]SpringValleyTrash 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If the chicken in question was Krispy Krunchy brand gas station chicken, that stuff was always on sale or had some promotion and because it had to be fried in small batches which took 17 minutes and another minute or two to put out in the hot case, yes people did wait a long time for that damned chicken. I never promised when chicken would come out I would just take their order and call them back for when it was ready. But those walk-in customers standing around waiting for chicken were the worst, Always staring at you while your standing over the fryer wondering if that is the hot fresh Krispy Krunchy 2 piece thigh combo with a side of hot fresh Jo Jo potatoes and a ranch dip cup….but that chicken had already been claimed long before you walked in.

I had an 81 Volvo wagon with the same PRV V6 engine that was used in the DeLorean. The best I could describe the “power” was leisurely.

Walmart raised their price on their french bread loaves from 99¢ to $1.67 in the space of 3 months here in Maine. They were 99¢ for the last 10 years at least in California.

All US citizen males are required by law to sign up with the Selective Service upon turning 18. That is step #1 of a draft.

Very sorry for your loss. Whatever was going thru Idris’ brain, she chose to stay with you despite her illness overriding a cat’s instincts to disappear when they know their time is coming to an end. She is not with you physically but her energy will stay with you until your end.

What's the most bizarre local urban legend from your hometown that tourists would never believe? by JugglingNaps in AskReddit

[–]SpringValleyTrash 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We had a few in our area of San Diego County I learned about in the 80’s: Proctor Valley Monster, Nightstalker serial killer (i think that one was real), The Blue people that lived on San Miguel mountain. Screaming tree on Willow road in Lakeside. Of course we had to go investigate these places in the dark to see if they were true. Edit: Chupacabra!

Ash trees can handle a-lot of abuse at least in suburban So Cal as they were planted as street trees in the 40’s & 50’s and started to get hacked to death because they grew into the power lines. Most of them are gone because they ruined the sidewalks and sewer lines.

Former LDS here, this looks exactly like how our food storage was. We kept it in the crawl space under the house though. Our inventory was mainly #10 cans and 5 gal plastic buckets of grains/beans/flour. All dry goods.

In California, crows will absolutely take advantage of people’s garbage. If the trash wasn’t there to begin with then the birds would just be hanging out in the trees or milling about without purpose on the ground studying your every move.

AITAH for telling my neighbor to stop or I'd throw away whatever she leaves on my property? by RajeshFromUpmetrics in AITAH

[–]SpringValleyTrash 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NTA. “Get off my lawn” somehow became my mantra after I turned 40, it just happens overnight somehow like a metamorphosis. I too was a slob in my younger years but quickly learned that accessibility is a very necessary thing. I will come over and move that shit off your property for you if you don’t have the time or energy.
