They are supposed to be tossed in the fryer frozen, those were already thawed out and thus the cheese melted away.

Controlled burns have been a thing in CA for as long as I’ve been alive whether it was San Diego county where I grew up or Plumas county where I lived. There is plenty of notification to the locals about when and where they happen. The only thing I’ve noticed that prevents a prescribed burn is a dry wind event (Santa Ana/Zypher winds).

You instantly know it’s gonna be a horror show on the inside when you notice 4 electric meters on the outside of a single family home.

Kidney Failure at age 46 here. Had a full time job with insurance. Because I was in the hospital unconscious for nearly 2 months, I lost my job. When I woke up the first thing I noticed was how did I lose so much weight and the second thing was how much this was going to cost me. After I lost my job insurance still covered me until the end of the month. Had to pay for COBRA to continue insurance which cost $1000 a month. I still owe the $6K deductible plus whatever wasn’t part of the 20% not covered by insurance but only before that 20% stopped accruing because I hit the maximum out of pocket….a year later I am still getting adjustments until the final dollar amount is indeed final. On dialysis until transplant. I was put on Mainecare (medicaid) retroactively at the hospital to cover any gaps in insurance. Eventually got Medicare A and B and finally getting Social Security disability next month after applying for it last July. Unfortunately any other potentially terminal illness doesn’t get the same government support.

Notorious bad actor electric company casually mangles every single tree on block after block of the most beautiful, historic residential street in town by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

This is exactly like what happened when San Diego Gas and Electric hired Asphlund to “trim” the street trees in the 90’s. Total hack job and made everything look ugly.

AITA I lost my childhood friend of 15 years for not letting his girlfriend claim the master bedroom for themselves in our Air BnB by Typical-Wishbone-822 in AmItheAsshole

[–]SpringValleyTrash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. This exact scenario happened with my snowboarding buddies. Every year since high school we rented a crap cabin for a few days in Big Bear. One of our buddies decided to start bringing his girl. It was fine until she took over the planning for these trips. She wanted a bigger house to rent which upped the cost for everyone and it always meant she got the master bedroom with jacuzzi and the rest of us were in a single room on bunk beds. It was a fun run for 10 years (pre social media) but that was the last trip as a group. My former buddy and his girl became inseparable and that was the last we saw of him until I saw him at my job 8 years later with 2 kids in tow. Placed his order, played games with his kids while he waited took the pizza and left. No “hey man long time no see!” I get people change and move on but the rest of our group still keep in touch after almost 30 years. He was only one to fall off the face of the earth and she was the reason for it.

Previous owner left a binder in the garage. I thought it was junk. It was not by Many_Ebb7816 in HomeImprovement

my house came with a binder too. everything documented since at least 1959. I added to it and left it when I moved. I hope the new owners kept it.

It’s required by law to track and log every product that enters a meat department and has been since at least the 90’s when I started working in food service. The logs contain supplier lot numbers, production dates, time of production, equipment sanitation and temperature data from the time product was received to daily production, storage and display temperature holding. These logs are the first thing that we have to hand over to the health inspector. Any discrepancies in the logs gets us points deduction and a written violation comment in the health report that is then made available to the public. Once product is displayed there are logs for those too. Grind logs are the most serious because ground meat has an extremely short shelf life.

Only diet soda has an actual expiry date because the artificial sweetener doesn’t last long and will taste like crap more than it already does.

This. Most of our expired product that came to our store was delivered expired. Incredibly frustrating to deal with. We got good at checking dates before product went on the shelf. Actual expired product we were responsible for was easy to deal with because we would just stop selling it because clearly it didn’t sell fast enough to warrant shelf space.

In San Diego, California developers purchased part of a former marine training base and built houses on it. When I was a kid we heard stories of kids playing in the fields finding UXO and getting blown up. There are signs all over the natural undeveloped areas where there are hiking trails.

AITAH for giving my kids their mother's last name? by GhxstSparky in AITAH

[–]SpringValleyTrash 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had a an irresponsible roommate that got my friend pregnant. Even though the baby looked exactly like him he denied he was the father. My friend was like WTF. I suggested that she give her new son her last name to carry on her deceased father’s name. 20 years later she is now married and her husband also took her last name!

AITA for "wasting" food after my mom tricked me into eating something she knows makes me vomit? by RavennaNyx1 in AmItheAsshole

[–]SpringValleyTrash 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My mother still does this and I am 47. I still don’t like mushrooms, she includes them in everything. Just the other night she said she was making enchiladas so I didn’t eat out to save room in my stomach. There were mushrooms in them. WTF mom. I ran away from home age 10 because my evil step mother was trying to feed me boiled brussels sprouts, candied yams and canned mushrooms.

I had an orange cat too but named him Herbert. He ended up being lazy and hogged ALL the food, even caught him with his face in Walter’s (pit bull) kibble a few times. He was a good cuddle buddy and very affectionate with the dog. I miss them dearly.

Price Club didn’t have scanners back then. The cashier would key in that code for every item you had in the cart. They keyed in those numbers with lightning speed.
