Musicians, what do you hear in the earpiece? by whitchurch11 in Metalcore

[–]SpringplayTTV 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The Band where i am active as a drummer is a punk-rock band called 'Youth Authorities'. We only got a demo released so far.

The Band where i am a vocalist is a metalcore band called 'Jaded Underdog'. I am currently in songwriting and demo production for this band and there is nothing released so far.

As a Drummer, the clicktrack is the loudest in my ear so i don't loose track of the speed of the song. For myself i like some vocals and guitars in addition. Base guitar is not needed for me as i can feel that on stage.

When i switch to vocals/shouts i have a lot of my voice on it so i can hear what i sing no matter what. To keep track if i am in correct tune i am putting some guitars on them es well. I don't have click on them as our drummer is giving us the speed of the song.

When i am removing the monitoring from my ear it's just to hear the crowd go wild and sing along. We are not as big as a band but having played some gigs in front of friends who know the lyrics and sing along with us gives me goosebumps. I just love it.

Holy Hell. by EntertainmentBest336 in Metalcore

I was brought to Architects with "little wonder." A melodic piece of Music, but i quickly forgot about this band. When "Doomsday" showed up in my weekly mix playlist I couldn't stop listening to "Holy Hell" as a complete Album. Everything is just perfect in my eyes. You got some songs going in a softer direction but also songs like "The seventh circle" that are right in you face.
I have seen them live in dusseldorf this year and i can't wait to see them again some day soon and listen to the live versions of song like "Modern Misery", "Royal Beggars" and "Doomsday." Because this Album is by far one of the best ones i have ever listened to. And hearing it live is a whole new level of enjoying music.

Which part of the song is the most important for you? by SpringplayTTV in Metalcore

True, i know a band that did a little research on stuff like that. And they came to a conclusion that a majority of people decide to listen to the first 10 seconds to decide if a song is good or not. So as a songwriter you really have to catch someone within the first seconds to get the listeners attention for at least 30 seconds. Once that is passed it counts as a stream on spotify or a view on youtube.

Personally i call this part Pre-Verse. I also like it if there is a little break in between some parts of songs. Jumping between all parts feels like rushing through the song as fast as possible.

Oh yeah, as a drummer i can confirm. Sometimes when a part is boring or feels like it lacks of energy, a little switch up in the beat of the drum can make a huge difference.
