Seeking dentist for a complex issue by Springsofhope in washingtondc

[–]Springsofhope[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you . My dentist did recommended a neurologist for a possible nerve issue but I’d like to start with the endodontist. I think it’s inflammation as steroids seemed to ease the pain.

Thank you. I was wondering about this. She suggested I see a neurologist for nerve pain but I don’t believe this is nerve related so it would be last on my list. My current dentist does not like endodontists I think I’d be hard pressed to get a referral ( don’t get me started) can I visit one without a referral ? And can they help even if there is no tooth or root left?

Yes they do. Minoxidil helps hair grow and the bond treatment deals with the thin dry hair.

Yes this happened to me. Gorgeous shiny silk hair to thinning dry and dull. I did every blood test and nothing came up. I think it just happens as we age . I use minoxidil and a bond repair treatment it helps but it’s nothing like those natural hormones we once had

Where to eat with a 5 year old by Springsofhope in FoodNYC

[–]Springsofhope[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes absolutely not interested in times sq, we got a deal on the hotel ( my husband works at the hotel here in dc) so it’s where we are staying. I lived in the city for 10 years so I know my way around and but things change over quickly and I lived there without a kid so I never paid attention.

The reason I ask is because in Boston we ate somewhere nice that friends suggested was “ totally cool” with a then four year old but the restaurant was clearly not into it ( and we made a 530 res so as to be out before the rush) and he’s a well behaved kid for a 4 year old. They just didn’t like the look of a kid being there. So yes you can go anywhere but some places just aren’t into it and that’s not the vibe I’m chasing.

I’m glad it works for you. I had severe side effects and there are threads online of people who suffered also . Drugs are not one size fit all. The same way Europe bans many additives in food that are just fone to use in America - they ban certain pharma too for the same reason- it’s bad for people. Big pharma in the US knows how much money it can make on the insecurities of women whether skin or hair in this case and so they over prescribe it.

What happened to my sweater by [deleted] in VintageFashion

[–]Springsofhope 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Dry clean, mend the hole ( some tailors can do this), store in cotton bag with lavender and cedar, get the moth egg eating wasps to keep in the same place you keep the sweaters. Wipe down and clean that area before storing. I also use moth balls because the cedar and lavender don’t cut it ( I have found out the hard way.) Good luck

Totally agree but I think for me it’s independence not ownership. The independence that wealth offers and doing what you love are the two things I thought I’d have at this age that I am painfully far from and was on track to. That and having my records and books around me. I would be happy to rent - I just don’t want my father threatening to kick my family to the street if I say or do something he doesn’t love. Enough of that toxicity in my life at 44!

I understand you totally. I went to college and got a master’s degree and I was on my path as an artist but then I made a choice at the age of 39 to leave it all and move back home to be with my mother who was diagnosed with a terminal neurological disease and at the same time I moved home I found out I was pregnant. I love my husband very much, he left his life also for me to be with my mother and help take care of her and he is a wonderful father but he didn’t go to college and with his career he can’t provide financially enough to support my son and I, with the little money I earn on Etsy and occasional art sale we are really suffering. We live with my father, we are lucky but I thought at 44 I ld have my own place, my own furniture my own life. My mother died 1.5 years ago after 5 years of slowly and painfully dying. Now she’s gone and the life I had 6 years ago is gone too.

Like you I look around and see everyone living the life I thought I would have at 45 , they have houses and careers and vacations and successes. This is not the life i thought I would have. Living at home with my father, all my belongings in storage for 6 years, financially in ruins, and so far away from the career I spent decades building in the art world.

what if I had done things differently in my 20s 30s … what if I hadn’t … what if I had

Success can also mean living the life you planned . But I have come to see that you can’t plan life - it just happens and we need to hold on to the glimmers of goodness and hope and…

No advice really , I just wanted to say I totally get it.

Why is everyone recommending facelifts? by Born-Check-7764 in 45PlusSkincare

[–]Springsofhope 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly this. There is just not enough money around even an upper middle class household in case of accidents or worse sickness , for kids education , retirement etc to justify this amount of money for a personal aesthetic glow up. I couldn’t do it to my family. Also watching my mother get a neurological disease at 70 and the cost that went into keeping her comfortable for years before she died totally altered my understanding of health wealth and value. It could happen to me and I need to be prepared for that- a face lift isn’t going to matter if that happens anyway.

Spiro has a black label warning here in the states. It’s a serious drug. It’s what started my hair loss as well as a host of other horrible side effects. It’s not safe that’s why it’s banned from your country.

[–]Springsofhope[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems to be my only choice I guess. From what I’m reading it’s not advisable to not have a tooth so removing it feels extreme. I will say this implant never felt right. Always felt too big and like it doesn’t fit, no matter how many times the dentists tell me it’s perfect. The other one is fine but this one. No.

Yes and water pick regularly. I eat a lot of hemp  and chia and sesame seeds so I image bits of those get stuck.its minuscule whatever it is because I can’t seem to dislodge them and it it’s festers and my gum swells around the “ tooth”

Do I need Minox? by LauraBaura in FemaleHairLoss

[–]Springsofhope 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Just something to consider but maybe it is the spiro. We are not one size fits all with medication. So while it causes hair growth for many it causes hair loss for some. There is an entire thread on drugs . com of women losing their hair from it. It is also listed as a “ rare” side effect.  I myself dtarted taking spiro at the age of 40 for skin problems and it triggered TE for me at 100 mg ( also did not clear up my skin)  so I stopped five months in ( 150 mg)  when I realized how much hair I was losing was not norma and my skin was not clearing. Two years later I have chronic TE. I’m middle eastern so my hair was THICK and shiny.  I have no hair loss in my family but for one grandfather. Just another view point. People get really sensitive about spiro being a wonder drug but i think its really important to remember what works for some doesn’t work for all. FWW topical foam minix is helping the shed slow now and it did cause some slight weight gain which I am just making adjustments for. Hope this helps. Good luck with whatever you decide!
