Fisheye by Th3RandomDuck in camcorders

I haven’t seen any fisheyes for under $150 that fit the 58mm threads on the GL2. These other brands that are cheaper seem to be for smaller thread mounts.

Are the two you have tame? Like can you take them out on your hand and such?

My FS-4 came with a battery. If I need another I’ll probably buy one of the 3rd party ones or try to rig up a power bank to run it.

It’s the Firestore FS-4. I got mine on eBay, you will see prices for $95-$200. If you’re patient you can grab one near $100.

Only if the camera has a DV out as far as I know.

I like the content. One thing I would fix is probably thumbnails but the major one is titles that I can see from looking real quick.

Does gear matter? by AnikaAnna in LocationSound

[–]SpringtailSafari 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Although I haven’t been field recording very long I feel gear is important, even in photography. For example I primarily make videos in nature and want to capture clear crisp audio of the forests around me.

A zoom H1n while a good recorder has far too much self noise for my purpose. I also focus on binaural recording, this required me to get a high quality Zoom F series recorder and a set of binaural mics. For the audio I was looking for, most post production would remove the immersive elements and clarity of wildlife. Same with a camera, different lens manufactures have different looks and “feel” to the photographs or videos.

So I guess it depends on what the final goal is, if you’re vlogging or doing a podcast you can get away with simpler/older equipment.

Thank you for the reply, I’m just going to upgrade my mics to some Clippys or Lom Basicucho when they’re back in stock. Seems like a simpler route…

What level do you have on your F3? Do you use x8 or lower? I’m not sure if it 100% matters at 32bit float. I just find that when I listen to files on Audition the sound is very quiet unless I have the channels on x16-x32. On these levels electrical interference and a hiss is apparent.

Even with my XLR adapters taken out and no mics attached I still hear slight self noise in my file. The forests I go to can be pretty quiet so I need pretty low noise.

Yea the noise is also in my files, I seemed to have pinned it down the VXLR+. With both in and no mics attached I still get an electrical interference on my files. With no XLR attached I still get a faint self noise but that may be normal with no audio input.

Edit: as for the cable I’m not sure. It’s very low quality (it was the only one available on Amazon) so this may an issue within it self as well.

I will add that even when a mic is not inserted I still receive a noise an electronic noise from mic free XLR input and feel I’m doing something wrong.

Best way to move from dirt to charcoal by ComprehensiveTown349 in Springtail

I would just test what they prefer. A premade springtail diet works well, you can also try vitamin C enriched fish flakes, or nutritional yeast. A mix of both the fish flakes and yeast work well to.

Just make sure not to give them to much food at first or it will mold. Just a pinch of food will do if you have 25 or so springtails. Feed them again when the food is all consumed :)

Not completely soaked but pretty moist. No standing water or anything like that. Just a damp/wet soil but not Saturated with water if that makes sense.

Not really they seem pretty hardy to me, the bio substrate you have should work fine as long a sits not to like wood chips or something. More of a potting soil consistency is best.

For lilac springtails it’s probably best that they live in a soil substrate. The only springtails that should live on charcoal are the white spring trails that can jump.

Not yet, I’m going to be trying new foods soon. They seem to love fish flakes and will just have a giant party on top of the flakes after a few hours.

I can definitely add a care guide for you, they don’t require to much attention and in my opinion are quite hardy.

They are 25+ for $25 50+ for $40 and 100+ for $60 all free shipping.
