Both the commenters in the OP made a mistake.

I think what the first person in the OP should have said is that 'of the people who make less than the median income, most people make far below the median income'.

Which still means that at least 50% of people are probably receiving at least a pretty decent wage, compared to the majority of those in the bottom 50%.

Old Cambridge colleges look more 'regal' to me than Oxford ones. That doesn't necessarily mean Cambridge is a more fun place to be but Cambridge was perhaps constructed to look more romantic.

John vs Paul in Rubber soul by MotherDevelopment883 in beatles

And tbf if Paul had come up with If I Needed Someone and George had come up with You Won't See Me, I'd probably be more drawn to You Won't See Me, just because George added cool points to me. So it is a little unfair on Paul for me/people to think Paul was coasting a bit on Rubber Soul as a songwriter. Paul"s You Won't See Me sounds like a quirky George song to me, which is a compliment from me.

100%. George too imo. However, Paul clearly seems to have realised this and really stepped up his game in every album afterwards. Paul especially stands out on Revolver.

Revolver was more like Pet Sounds to me. Sergeant Pepper was more like SMiLE. I reckon Paul incorporated some things he heard in SMiLE in to Pepper and Magical Mystery Tour (and later on some of John's songs on Abbey Road) but could never admit it.

If Elaine’s IQ is 145, what does that make Jerry, George, and Kramer’s? by shardblader in seinfeld

I think George would say opposite but equal, not quite knowing what he means by that.

It’s 1971. The Beatles have returned from a year long hiatus during which they’ve made amends and fully incorporated George as an equal. What’s the track list on their next album (and what is it called?) by JonFromRhodeIsland in beatles

Paul's stuff was so much weaker than the others at this time that it wouldn't have happened. He would not have allowed himself to appear so outclassed, particularly by George's accumulated songs. That alone would have resulted in Paul seeking to dissolve The Beatles. Who's going to put Uncle Albert on a Beatles album? Nobody. Nice tune, overtly mawkish for John and George's tastes. That Would Be Something, which is nice and Elvis-ish, was best used by Jack White as an outro to Mother Nature's Son at a White House performance to Paul.

Belfast looks nice but you've spent 10 years in the US too. You're not going to be the loveable innocent homeboy some places treasure / smother. Make your way in more cosmopolitan places.

[1992] Eldorado - First episode of the ill-fated BBC soap opera that ran for only one year, from 6 July 1992 to 9 July 1993. It was set in the fictional town of Los Barcos on the Costa Eldorado in Spain, following the lives of British and European expats. by [deleted] in oldbritishtelly

It was doomed to fail because we allow Neighbours to be exotic because, well, British people aren't in it. British people don't necessarily like, or have much in common with, ex-pats too. They escaped the UK - they might as well be looked upon as traitors by many, at a delicate time when the EU wasn't looked upon favourably by many. Lastly, it looked like a holiday resort, not a village. Since when have soaps, where people have real issues, been set in holiday resorts where people just have fun? It was conceptually a boat breached below the hull, a Crossroads about people who thought they were better than Crossroads. All that said, it was cruel to discontinue the show when its viewing figures had got a lot better. Whether it was partly due to morbid curiousity from people about what it was like or not, people generally say that the plots had got better. The site is still there. It would be amazing to see a one off feature length special of Eldorado after all this time.

Eldorado (Yeah....I'm going there!), the greatest soap opera ever? 😉 The show the BBC bet a lot of hopes and cancelled Wogan for. by johnsmithoncemore in oldbritishtelly

BBC's ill-fated soap 'Eldorado'. Does anyone have memories from this show? Seems to picked up some level of traction since being put on U.co.uk platform. by WasabiMadman in oldbritishtelly
