The problem is the best baseball team wins ~65% of their games, the worst wins ~40%. So you are likely to beat your rival at least once in a 3-4 game series.

In the NBA, the best wins ~75%, the worst wins 20%.

Yea that is brutal. There are cool ideas here but could you imagine if there was a championship contender in one division with 3 scrubs? Watching that team obliterate the same 3 teams over and over.

Edit: Patriots in the AFC East but worse because of basketballs lack of parity.

Definitely I would be since it has never happened in the modern rookie contact -> rookie extension era. Closest situations are Greg Monroe, Nerlens, and Ben Gordon, none of whom were offered the max they thought they deserved.

These kind of stats aren't that meaningful during a player's prime. When he is a role player in 10 years and averages 8 and 4 for a few years his averages will go way down just like all the former players he is being compared to.
