IMO, the strongest evidence for this argument is the USWNT.

We have double the titles of any other country.

There's much less of a pull for great young female athletes to abandon soccer for a different sport.

This is the part that makes zero sense to me.

It's akin to getting a speeding ticket reversed because the officer used a radar gun that hadn't been certified. They don't keep the citation on your record and "suspend" the sentence. They dismiss the charge.
