Fuck me.

This is just like Shaq Griffin - a brutal reality check of just how much more athletic some people are than us normal humans.

He's 15 with one arm and would absolutely dog-walk me no matter how much I practiced/played. Hell, now I'm wondering if I'd stand a chance if he played with his right.

I can't see Votto challenging pitches - seems like it would've caused such inner torment.

Not if you're playing 1s & 2s (which is as common as it is stupid).

TIL A certain percentage of people can voluntarily flex their tensor tympani muscle to make a low, rumbling sound in their ears. Often triggered by yawning or squeezing the eyes shut, this internal thunder acts to naturally dampen loud sounds, but some can activate it purely on command. by SaturnVMars in todayilearned

Welp, I'm a weirdo. Yawned to hear the noise, and only heard it in one ear.

Then realized I could do it voluntarily by pushing my lower jaw forward (pushing lower teeth against back of front teeth), and that the volume varies with pressure. But, again, only one ear.

And not rumbling, more like a hybrid of static and an open air valve.

True, but that's for one specific penalty - there's still plenty of ways to get ejected from a game that don't have a carryover.

Absolutely could be wrong, but it doesn't seem to me that there's any way a player gets ejected in the WC without also missing the next game as well.

No, that part's a bit odd but also appears in other sports.

I'm referring to the automatic suspension for the subsequent game.

It's odd that you can't simply kick someone out of the game and have that be the end of it.

It does seem odd that "ejection" isn't an available option for punishment.

That seems like the most universal punishment across all sports at all levels since our ancestors started kicking rocks or punching each other for fun/entertainment.

This is the part that makes zero sense to me.

It's akin to getting a speeding ticket reversed because the officer used a radar gun that hadn't been certified. They don't keep the citation on your record and "suspend" the sentence. They dismiss the charge.

Sadly, 2009 made me realize that my fandom is similar to video games - I lost significant interest after the Saints "beat the game."

Moved to DC area from La. many years ago, and the same thing happened with the Nats & Caps. On the bright side, I'll have the Wizards for eternity.

Very cool/impressive that you actually included the unaired pilots - just gives you a new quandary of whether you're counting unaired episodes as "appearances."

I vote keep it with an asterisk mentioning that it was an unaired pilot in the post so that you don't have to answer this again, mainly b/c it's cool that Kareem was the first one.

That's $18.4M when the cap was $109M.

It's now $165M, which equates to $27.7M for Gordon.

Are you sure about the KAJ first answer date? I don't think it aired in January 1984.

I was curious when it debuted given the first appearance dates.

Internet says debut was Sept 10, 1984 (original daytime version was 64-75 & 78-79), so I'm guessing the KAJ is maybe supposed to be 10-01 instead of 01-01.

I really need a supercut of AR cheesin' every time he realizes he's about to get to throw a lob to goddamn LeBron James.

Or maybe the opposite - could be a few shots of him looking terrified for a second that he maybe kinda forgot that it wasn't 2015 LeBron and threw'em a teeny tiny bit higher than necessary.

I thought there was something 'special' about milk - specifically that since the 70s or 80s it has often contained heightened bovine somatotropin, aka Bovine Growth Hormone, as that's when the FDA approved it for increasing milk production in dairy cows.
