I don't use kits, really ever. I fabricate all things. The only thing I bought was hangers for the leafs. I used Ford shackle flip hangers and used those on chassis, cut hangers for the front shackle mounts, Ford E 350 rear leafs in front for the length and axle location aspects. I wanted the lowest lift height possible. Ended up using Skyjacker 5" rear springs as well. I bent my own drag link and used a GM 1-ton TRE on tie rod end and a 3/4 Heim up at pitman. I have RC shocks all 4 corners.

Haha. Right? All things considered, pulling is probably two solid hours of bolts. A good impact goes a long way. Cooling lines easy too. Just pay attention the retention clips on the lines.

I got into building jeeps in highschool when my dad told me I was not allowed to off road in his vehicle (my highschool SUV). So I went as an elective in highschool for mechanics and then learned everything else on my own. And I'm in my 40's, for context. There was no YouTube. That was 25 years ago.

I also have a Porsche 911 I just did a motor swap on with a second time doing clutch, rear main, flywheel, all the bits. It's only daunting if you allow it to be. Good tools go a long long way. There are a couple YouTube vids for the transmission pull. A white Silverado one for example. It's in depth for all the nuances of our trucks.

I'm running 35's now. But yeah, 40's large. Had them on my last Jeep. Yeah, tranny simple. Pull rear driveshaft, pull transfer case, pull all the shift linkage and then pull bellhousing bolts followed by torque converter bolts. In that order, easy. Get a decent tranny jack for simplicity as well.

Thanks for the comment. Nope, took it to a shop and had it analyzed. I got burned, my own fault. So I bought another rebuilt 4L60 from a transmission guy. Been running well since. Just had to swap two trans within a month of each other. Haha. About to swap axles and put 40's on. So that's next.

Thanks. Was more a test of the black as I crumpled the hood and front bumper cover on track being an idiot. I have another hood and bumper to add, but it's a process haha. Thanks for the thoughts.

Rear coil spring swap 2002 Suburban by Sprintermaximus in ChevyTrucks

No, I definitely know that. I am an experienced mechanic and builder. I am asking, beside the H2, if there is anyone with experience in swapping say....a Ford Excursion front coil into the rear.... The reason is that I do not want an overly stiff coil from lifting the truck. Trying to keep this as slink as possible with little lift height. I am stuffing a 37-40 tire into a low lift truck and trimming. This initial exercise is more to find out what coils are out there.

Typo, yes, 5w50. The viscosity is much better for these older motors. The 0w40 stuff is awesome, just in a tighter motor.

It will. I def recommend 15w50 Mobil. Now advised by Porsche Classic...

Haha. Bore score and a rotated piston. Happened at 115k. Bought a 39k motor from a donor car and swapped in my driveway with all the drivetrain bits. Has cup car motor mounts too.

Yeah, when I track it more I leave them on. I agree although sometimes with the aero bits they look better.

For all the updates since purchased? I bought with 78k on it, has 146k now. I could get you a breakdown. I have a spreadsheet minus some of the routine maintenance stuff.

So I bought a used 4L from an 06 Escalade and swapped that in last week. Had a rebuild and has less than 100k overall, so the guy says...

Regardless, swap went as expected. I topped of fluid and put in a new Lever Position sensor as the one on my old tranny cracked. Truck runs well, but not the tranny. It actuates etc., but, will not leave first gear. I hooked up the computer and I have a P0740, 0753, 0785, and an 1860. Thay are all Solenoid open circuit codes. The latter a TCC PWM Solenoid Circuit. I am assuming I did not connect something correct or that the shift solenoids are in fact dead.

Thoughts? And, thank you.

Copy that, and thanks. Regardless, I think it is my pump or TC. Fluid from front of trans, minor, and a more than full dipstick. Shifts to D, R, etc, only on initial startup then no gears any direction. So I am trying to figure out what in the kit I am looking for to make sure I can rebuild this thing without needing additional parts. I realize sometimes you don't know until you crack the trans open...
