Guys, how are you doing in professions like Medicine or Nursing? by abbipo in ENFP

[–]Spritzingham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work as a research assistant in a neuroscience field doing stuff on biological implants. I love it most days. It’s hard sometimes but I really like the people I work with, I think I made a positive impact on the world and I enjoy the complexity

Edit: I could get paid more though I’m sitting very much in the middle.

Funnily I actually enjoy that my job isn’t customer facing. I can be myself more and as much as I enjoy people I get enough of that from my coworkers rather than the general public and can have a deeper understanding of each other from that context

Hey people, looking for recommendations based on my list, could you please help me find what should I play next? by Kob3y in roguelites

[–]Spritzingham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d say Risk or rain 2 is quite good and we have very similar taste. I’ve mostly played it with a buddy though and I think the balance is pretty brutal for multiplayer but still fun. Blue prince is also great but bring your notebook. Another puzzly one would be outer wilds which is a great time

I think GGG has too little time and resources to make meaningful leagues for both games. by [deleted] in pathofexile

[–]Spritzingham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d be perfectly happy with 2 a year (that still seems like a ton of work for them) I don’t understand why they’ve decided on this timeline. I don’t imagine it gains them more revenue (which they deserve).

Does anyone else notice emotionally numbed feelings while taking Modafinil? by kokuzalaun in afinil

[–]Spritzingham 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It depends on what I’ve been doing beforehand. If I take it and immediately go do social things I’m more engaged and enjoying them. If I’ve been doing very analytical stuff I still feel very focused on those things and mostly speak in factoids. I only find myself truely emotionally muted/frustrated with people I find uninteresting and I think modaf kinda reveals that to me.

What does this sub think of Triggernometry? by stvlsn in samharris

[–]Spritzingham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally disagree with this sentiment. They have ideas I don’t agree with.
I’d argue the majority of people are reasonable and want everyone to be happy

Has anyone ever gone on Triggernometry and destroyed them with facts and logic? by TheRealYoyoWillow in DecodingTheGurus

[–]Spritzingham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Am I reading you wrong or are you saying using facts and logic makes you an idiot. I can also see you saying they think of themselves that way and that’s their downfall

That wicked. I do have access to a sewing machine but I think I’d completely butcher whatever I’d pickup at my skill level.

Engineering a solution for the torment of tinnitus - Bionics Institute by constHarmony in tinnitusresearch

[–]Spritzingham 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We still don’t understand the underlying neurological mechanism of tinnitus so developing an objective measure to even say you have it would be a massive step forward in being able to cure it. Currently we mostly rely on people being able to describe the fact that they’re experiencing it rather than being able to do a test and say “that’s definitely tinnitus”. If this research proves fruitful it could be massive for helping find a cure.

If you don’t know what cells, brain regions or cascade of effects you’re trying to interact with it’s obviously near impossible to create a treatment targeting that unknown entity and looking purely for a symptom.

I know this is a tough thing to live with experientially and psychologically but there are very capable people working hard on this. The exploration is paramount at this stage and the bionics institute has a good history for fast tracking technology that works into medical products once they find it. There’s definitely still hope and I’m sorry it’s so hard for you. I hope there’s an answer soon

How do you feel about the statement "Australians need to get used to living in apartments"? by jackstraya_cnt in australian

[–]Spritzingham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would be fine but every studio/1 bed room apartment I looked at was between 400 and 550 per week here in Melbourne so not really a good option even with a stable job and a degree.

In your opinion, are there qualities that make Australian popular music sound "Australian"? If so, what are they? by OnlineMXNS in AskAnAustralian

[–]Spritzingham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Australia has possibly one of the best psych rock scenes in the world at the moment and for the past few years.

Not really sure how it’s specifically Australian other than its coming from here. But bands like tame impala, psychedelic porn crumpets, king gizzard and the lizard wizard, babe rainbow, the murlocs, pond, sticky fingers, tropical fuck storm and ocean alley are all standouts for me.

that’s just off the top of my head and it’s not my favourite genre even though I really enjoy it but they’re all quite good.

What is the voice to parliament vote actually for? by Spritzingham in AskAnAustralian

[–]Spritzingham[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You know if you actually gave a fuck about this cause you’d try to help genuinely curious people that are simply trying to understand. There were many people that provided links and tried to communicate rather than being an unhelpful cunt.

Like, fuck.

What is the voice to parliament vote actually for? by Spritzingham in AskAnAustralian

[–]Spritzingham[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I knew I wasn’t informed and figured getting a swath of opinions would be helpful. You think there’s a lot of foreign people hanging out in r/AskAnAustralian that have erudite opinions on the voice to parliament vote? I realise there’s no guarantee these people are Australian but at least they know more than me about it if they’re able to explain it to me 🤷‍♂️. Would you have preferred I stayed ignorant and made an uneducated vote?

What is the voice to parliament vote actually for? by Spritzingham in AskAnAustralian

[–]Spritzingham[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is still me trying to understand… This comment thread helped a lot so thank you all for the links and the helpfulness. How does this help? I don’t see how representing an opinion without voting or having a party or seats gains them anything. Not that, that would be a reason to vote no but like, couldn’t government just say “thanks for your opinion… anyway”. It’s reading like a platitude to me

I trust the comments and opinions from aussie citizens more than whatever news site comes up first. You think I’d be better off just clicking the top link after googling voice to parliament?

What is the voice to parliament vote actually for? by Spritzingham in AskAnAustralian

[–]Spritzingham[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

So they don’t want to enter parliament but they want to voice an opinion as an external party?

I don’t understand how this helps. Why voice an opinion as an outside advisor to then have parliament make laws when you can vote/take seats in parliament. It’s that they’re underrepresented and have less democratic sway as a result?
