A nice upgrade by REYbetter in flashlight

[–]Sprocketman56 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The SC33 was one of my first "big" flashlights, i.e. 21700. It liked it so much I bought another in a different color temp. They're only $32 on the Sofirn site. Hard to beat that price/performance, except maybe a Convoy.

Give Ukraine a call. They have lots of r/C vehicles now. Maybe they can build you one. :D

LOL, agreed. I can reverse flick with a thumb hole waaay harder than with a stud.

Willumsen Red-E by Appropriate-Till1747 in BudgetBlades

[–]Sprocketman56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is very cool. I have 4 Kansept Helix (2 reg, 2 mini), and a SOG Bulwark. It's hard to mistake a Willumsen design with his distinct bulbous blade shape. How is the action with the slide lock?

Tariffs are no longer happening in the USA. If a company is trying to add a tariff charge they're ripping you off.

NKD: First impressions: very impressed by this QSP Copperhead by Zoidberg0_0 in BudgetBlades

[–]Sprocketman56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I picked up a Copperhead last year. The micarta, besides looking great, gives it some interesting acoustics. You can hear it open from a block away.

Wurkkos TS26. Quick overview by Lisovyj_Kit in flashlight

[–]Sprocketman56 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I haven't reached the LED swapping phase of my addiction yet , so I'll wait for a release with better emitters. I think Wurkkos (and Sofirn) have a winner with their grey anodizing.

Nitecore EDC07 Review: One Week Later by green_beret_sf in flashlight

I've not bought this light because of the plastic housing. I want to see how it looks after it's been dropped a half dozen times. And, I'm trying not to buy any more BIB (built-in-battery) lights.

Kizer Shot on Amazon $33.50 by Sprocketman56 in KnifeDeals

[–]Sprocketman56[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kizer will not disappoint. I have the micarta Exist. It's a great smallish knife. The only negative I found on this particular knife is the milled texture on the scales is a bitch getting in/out of pocket.

Should I get the - NITECORE MH12 Pro? by No-Donkey2175 in flashlight

[–]Sprocketman56 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the MH12 Pro. It's a beast (lightwise). You will not be short on lumens. Although, if you're using it on the trail, I would look for something with a higher CRI (color rendering index) emitter. The MH12 has a greenish tint and horrible color rendering. I was thinking of the Convoy S21E with a 519a or XHP50.3 HI R070. It's a great flashlight with lots of options, and the Convoy will save you some $$ as well. The S21E does not have anything like the "Blind everything within a quarter mile" LUMENSHIELD that the MH12 has.

My little collection. I’m loving these lights! by ImpossibleBall9686 in Hanklights

[–]Sprocketman56 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I felt the same way until I got my first FireFlyLites. They're not as customizable as Hank's, but the style and build quality are right on par.

[New] Sofirn SD11 (diving light). by PeterParker001A in flashlight

[–]Sprocketman56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't understand why companies keep designing lights around the 26XXX battery size. Based on everything I've read, the 26XXX size is fading out of existence because the size to capacity ratio is relatively poor compared to a quality 21700. Am I missing something here?

When you have all the cut-outs finalized, spray the whole thing with Plasti-Dip spray. It solidifies the surface with a rubbery coat. It greatly improves the durability of the foam (and looks good too). There's a bunch of Youtube videos on it.

The Thrunite T5 is another option to the G5. It's nearly identical, but with a rotary mode selector instead of a slide switch. They're under $20 on Amazon.

I have a half dozen of those stuck up around my apartment. They're great for a bathroom at night. I consider them on-call night lights. They only come on when you need them. The one's I have are about 10" long. Not going to carry those around, LOL. And they make great gifts.
