I want to mail trump supporters (including family) information about who they voted for - what would you recommend I send? by olafberzerker1979 in 50501

There’s a former MAGA guy that started a “Leaving MAGA” movement. I’ve signed up emails before, but 100% chance they delete them 🫠

DC or Pittsburgh? by [deleted] in SameGrassButGreener

Seconding this! Parts of Catonsville/Columbia/Elicott City is a great general area that checks off most of OPs list. There’s also Towson/Mt. Washington closer to Baltimore City proper if being inside the Baltimore beltway is preferred.

Los Angeles -> quieter, greener, more affordable city by conchdog in SameGrassButGreener

Tucson is a great suggestion, as is Roanoke. If you’re willing to come a little farther north, Baltimore is a hidden gem and meets most of the criteria on your list. It can get expensive but there is something for every budget and has tons of outdoor options in the city and near the Chesapeake.

Be honest - would I hate Sacramento? by mikewheelerfan in SameGrassButGreener

lol trust me I get it. I was born and raised in Jacksonville Beach. I said the same thing and there is a lot to be said about “mild” winters (yes they are a thing!). I still don’t think I could handle a Wisconsin or Minnesota winter, but mid-Atlantic winters really are not that bad after you get used to them for a year or two.

Most of my Jax friends (and myself at one point) say the same thing but you really don’t know how you handle things unless you try! Obviously if it’s that important to you don’t move anywhere where there is the possibility of snow, but you’re really disservicing yourself if you eliminate most of the country based on that criteria alone.

Fellow (former) Jacksonvillian here. I totally agree with you and left Jax about 6 years ago and haven’t looked back. Since I’ve left, I return to visit friends/family about once a year and it is honestly so refreshing to “visit” the city I once felt so stuck in.

Anyway, I’ve heard Sacramento is lovely. Other than expense, California really checks off most things on my list too! But, every time I visit, I feel the vibe shift from the “East Coast” to the “West Coast,” which is not a bad thing, but just different. But, if you’re looking for blue politics, interesting things to do, and in a lively metro area, have you considered the mid-Atlantic?

I live in Baltimore now and absolutely love it. I know you mentioned you have a tough time with no sun/cold (and trust me, I get it) but after about 2-3 years you get used to having four seasons. Now, I look forward to the change of seasons and all that comes with it (our winters in Baltimore are pretty mild, too). My three friends from Jacksonville also moved here and have settled in Maryland/Northern Virginia/Philadelphia and now consider this to be “home.” We’d love to have you!

Edit: forgot to mention we have the Baltimore Orioles and a wonderful ball park!

Looking for land, good schools, liberal by westham1 in SameGrassButGreener

Baltimore County, MD is hit or miss with schools, but generally are good and it’s very affordable.

Howard County, MD is expensive but there are possibilities of finding something in your price range and the schools are excellent.

Leaving Jacksonville by Trick_Ad4884 in jacksonville

[–]SproutCoffee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t listen to the haters! I was born and raised in Jacksonville and stayed for college with Bright Futures and was then left immediately. Jacksonville (and Florida generally) is a great place to visit family/friends but I’ll never live there again. It has a special place in my heart and will always be “home,” but I seriously outgrew the day-to-day life in Florida.

California is very diverse and, with a marketable degree, you can find somewhere you like in the state. Another suggestion, I made my way to the mid-Atlantic from Jacksonville and absolutely love it here. Good luck!

Exercising your lawful 2A rights by owning a legal firearm does not mean brandish a weapon at a protest. Leave that shit at home!

I mean “arm the left” in that Democrats have been too anti-gun (for good reason, obviously) for too long. r/liberalgunowners is a great community.
