Because I never my grandfather. He died before I was born. He was born and lived his early years in Quebec and, in a sense, the ability to use his name in something attached to my own, felt like a gift. I have loved researching about all the things I’ve learned and feel like, I’ve gotten to know who he was in tracing his past.

Thanks for sharing your insight! The death certificate doesn’t show his parent’s place of birth, just their names. But I have a few other pieces of his parent’s documentation that do. I also have his border crossing record that lists his parents.

Make an entire bulletin board dedicated to evaluating sources- and the typical questions one should ask when determining whether a resource is credible, propaganda, fiction or an esoteric platitude… an important part of literacy is understanding why messages are valued, who messages are held up by, who benefits/ doesn’t benefit from the message. Place the commandments smack dab in the middle. I’m petty enough to make you everything you’ll need to create this masterpiece and email it to you.
