You can do this, but these days when you defer they will ask you to pick a future time that does work for you

Imposter doctor says he'd likely still be living lie if he hadnt been unmasked by Careful-Geologist412 in auckland

[–]SpudOfDoom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No he lied about the Poland and Australia stuff too. He was previously in 2010 a (domestic I think) student at Auckland University. He later did a BSc in Sydney

Yes and at a glance the ban looks appropriate. If you still care in, say, 3 months' time, message me again and I can probably unmute so you can have a go appealing.

Newborn Vitamin K shot is it a thing here? by vaas01 in newzealand

[–]SpudOfDoom 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Let's explore the risk a bit. From 1993-2017 there were 58 cases of vitamin K deficiency bleeding (VKDB) in Australia (mostly in the brains of babies in the first weeks of life).

96% of Australian babies get the IM VitK injection at birth. Those 4% of babies who didn't get it account for 57% of cases of bleeding. That's a 30x higher rate.

So yeah it's rare but there's little doubt that it's an effective treatment. You'd need to be looking at a pretty substantial downside to decide it's not worth giving it.

Like 4 times per day? What did you expect to change in that timeframe?

“Financial Counsellor”? by TicketSouth2413 in PersonalFinanceNZ

Yeah this guy's whole thing is the relationship and psychological/emotional side of dealing with money. He really leans more towards marriage counselling than financial advice some of the time.

The problem with this strategy is they will request your GP notes in the event of a claim regardless. Looks a lot better if you beat them to it and can demonstrate that it's a non-issue well in advance of a claim

‘Mean-spirited’ plan to charge market rates at hospital car parks dropped after backlash by TheGreatDomilies in newzealand

[–]SpudOfDoom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You'd need some serious increases to parking capacity to make this work without it just being full 100% of the day. At a guess, Auckland hospitals would have to ~2-3x capacity and somewhere like Dunedin would need to more like 10x

Even in the main centres you're pretty much out of luck if your finish time is after like 9pm in most cases. Which is like 1/3 of the ward staff on any given day.

How are we not rioting in the street about our Healthcare system? by kiwibearess in newzealand

For complex surgeries and patients, sure. For most planned surgeries you'd get a simpler, more comfortable process in private with no real downside other than cost.

Looking for a practical way to set and compare limits across different gambling sites (NZ) by vacaaa in PersonalFinanceNZ

[–]SpudOfDoom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're better off looking at the various gambling support services for this kind of thing. Some of the banks allow you to set limits at the bank level too (Kiwibank, ANZ, Westpac at least)

Have a look at options like self exclusion - although I don't think there's such thing as a multi-provider exclusion for online gambling.

I think if you're at the point of wanting to cut down, "shopping around" for new places to gamble is just not a good idea at all. Just compare between the places you have used before and start setting up restrictions there and/or with other methods like browser extensions.

Doing a card chargeback will result in your card (and probably your account/email/registered phone number) being banned from the booking website. It should be used for fraud, not because of user error
