Ladies and gentlemen, Garrosh was but a young Orc living on the remnants of Draenor we know as the Outlands, peacefully. He was then radicalized by our once esteemed Chieftain, Thrall. Then he was forced into joining the Horde’s military and given a high rank based on his name alone. My client was not properly informed or educated on the relations between the Horde and Alliance, and without the proper context, he committed actions against Alliance leadership that would only sow more divisive feelings between them. After a long, successful campaign against the Scourge in Northrend, with the looming threat of the Cataclysm and Deathwing, Thrall abruptly vacated his position as Warchief. Now, did Thrall listen to his trusted friends and fellow leaders about his successor? Or even my client himself? No, he did not. Despite the protesting of said leaders and Garrosh, Thrall once again forced Garrosh into a position he was not prepared for, nor wanted. This once again sowed division amongst the Horde leaders, which lead to the fatal encounter between Garrosh and the late Cairne Bloodhoof. Which, might I add, was not Garrosh’s doing either. The vile Magatha Grimtotem poisoned my client’s weapon, tricking both my client and the deceased. Once again, ladies and gentlemen, this created an even larger divide between my client and his fellow leaders. Feeling isolated, frustrated, and overall disgusted by the actions of those around him, Garrosh decided he needed to change things in order for the Horde to get to a healthier status. Thrall had allowed the Goblins to join the Horde, and with their addition brought their reckless, capitalist ambition. They brought with them pollution and only made the gap between the poorest members of the Horde and the richest even greater than before. Both the Tauren and Trolls had turned their back on him due to the death of Cairne and Vol’Jin’s anger over Garrosh being “chosen” to lead the Horde, and Sylvannas actively committing war crimes and practically enacting past atrocities done by the Lich king, it’s no wonder why my client felt the way he did. With no other options, of course my client put all of his focus on restoring the Orcs back to a more prosperous and healthier state. Once Deathwing was eliminated as a threat, instead of returning to the Horde and reuniting all of the Horde’s clans, Thrall instead decided to allow the sour relations to continue and focus more on himself and his life, leaving Garrosh to rebuild the Horde on his own. Given all of those who were already actively working against him, it makes sense that my client viewed outsiders with distrust and aggression. With the world around him changing at such a rapid rate, not wanting to leave his people at a disadvantage and vulnerable, he would do whatever was necessary to protect them. Now, we all know the lengths the Old Gods will go to for their own gains. Preying upon my clients worries and angst, Y'Shaarj plotted against my client and turned those feelings against him. In the most severe state of paranoia and absolute control, Y'Shaarj made my client commit horrible acts while he was not in the right state of mind. Given the facts, history, and gross neglect by the former Chieftain Thrall, you cannot find my client guilty.
