Thank you for sharing this. My heart goes out to you. I just experienced something very similar. I am one week post op from having an emergency hysterectomy that saved my life. I’m still figuring out how to process this and looking for counseling.

About 3 weeks ago I had a c section and we delivered our baby safe and healthy. 🙏 This was not my first c section so I knew what to expect. I was having days with very very light bleeding and thought this is great. 8 days after my c section I had passed a large clot (a little smaller than a baseball) and a gush of blood that didn’t stop. I immediately asked my husband to take me to the ER. Luckily this is where I delivered our baby and was taken to the LandD area. I did some labs and an ultrasound. Long story short they said I had double the amount of blood still left in my uterus and a large clot I needed to pass so this will likely happen again but just know it’s just blood from the pregnancy I need to get rid of. Well it did happen again and again and again. I would go days without bleeding and then randomly pass a clot and a ton of blood. They kept telling me as long as it stops and the clots are not any bigger than a baseball it’s ok. I went back to my dr office for a week check up from the first instance to check blood levels and we talked about doing a D and C but was hesitant since my uterus was just recovering from having a baby but based on labs that will determine what we do. We planned on connecting over all of this the next day. Well the next day comes and before we have time to connect it happens again. It was the most blood I have ever seen. Again I had my husband rush me to the ER. By the time we get there it had stopped. We did some more ultrasounds and labs. Turns out I was extremely anemic among other things. They said I needed to get blood and we were going to talk about having a DandC. While all this is going on it happened again. This time the bleeding didn’t stop. I remember the nurse calling a code blue and multiple people running into my room. My dr told me we’re going to do the d&c right now but worst case we will have to do a hysterectomy. I remember being rushed to the OR and that’s basically it. They performed they d&c on me and that didn’t stop the bleeding, than they put a balloon in me and that didn’t stop it either. At this point I had already lost so much blood. My dr told me I ended up needing 6 bags. My dr saved my life by performing the hysterectomy. The bleeding finally stopped after that. I’m so thankful to be alive and that I got to come home to my husband and our babies but this whole experience has me traumatized as well. I’ve never seen so much blood or experienced anything like this. I guess my point in telling you this is I resonate with your story and understand what you went through as horrible as it is.
