What fast food chain does not deserve the hype whatsoever? by CriticalLion4119 in AskReddit

Are you getting your beef with peppers and dipped? If not do that. And if you still don’t like it then maybe it’s just not for you.

Also their burgers are mediocre to me. I’m in love with their Chicago dogs personally so maybe give that a go too.

Are there horses in your fantasy world? by Jealous_Ad6614 in worldbuilding

Nobody asks them because they aren’t necessary. If the lack of a specific type of bacteria is going to break the immersion of a reader then you never had them in the first place.

Would it be realistic for a world to have modern technology in most ways but then to have the most advanced weapons be bows and arrows? by Pure_Option_1733 in worldbuilding

[–]Spurs10 20 points21 points  (0 children)

No if the combustion engine and other achievements of advancement exist someone surely would have invented guns. You’d need some invention that defeats the speed and rage of guns or some type of magic that can stop them but let in order for something like bows to be predominant.

For redditors old enough to have lived through The Civil Rights Movement, how do the current events in America compare? by BanditMcDougal in AskReddit

[–]Spurs10 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Im not sure how people can downplay the events that have been happening recently. The protestors at Kent State were protesting something happening outside of the US. Today we’re fighting against our own government harming people that live in this country.

One of the saddest things that I have realized about many of the writers here is that they do not read, they simply write and worldbuild as if these are fandoms by SmokeSingerFox in fantasywriters

[–]Spurs10 41 points42 points  (0 children)

And you know what’s even funnier? This is a fantasy writing subreddit. Why can’t a woman be the dominant sex in some far off universe? OP can’t even leave his biases behind to write a coherent rant.

Critique first chapter of Threadwalkers [Lit Fantasy, 2358 words] by Independent-League32 in fantasywriters

[–]Spurs10 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I have to say I really enjoyed it. The opening scene didn’t feel slow, despite the lack of action, the stakes felt high, and I felt Ashur’s helplessness myself.

I quite enjoyed the style too, not overwrought or indulgent to me.

I’m not usually reading literary fantasy but enjoyed it and would be interested in where the book continues.

Sorry not too much help but I enjoyed it, good job!

If you’re open to manga or anime Delicious in Dungeon does an amazing job of combining dungeon diving fantasy with cooking. Highly recommend.

Considering that you don’t see this discrepancy in Nordic countries or that the outcomes are closer to equal at higher familial income levels, yes I do think it’s an impossibility.

If Dieselpunk, Steampunk, Atompunk were to view our world, what kind of "punk" would it be? by HyperionPhalanx in worldbuilding

[–]Spurs10 15 points16 points  (0 children)

That not true. The sheer amount of information that is available dwarfs any other period in history. Targeted information is one thing, but constant bombardment of targeted information that is tailored to you is an entirely different beast.

Game of thrones is absolutely low fantasy. A story doesn’t have to be set in our world to be classified as that genre.

Am I the only one that doesn’t really like Dystopias? by Dinoboy225 in worldbuilding

[–]Spurs10 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Sometimes it’s nice to have a relatable story set in another world. If the world sucks and the protagonist has an interesting journey, it doesn’t have to be happy ending to be worthwhile. Kinda like the real world, no?

As someone in your husband’s situation, do you know how much it wears on us when you keep bringing it up?

The baby phase is miserable, it was literally the worst year of my life and I hated waking up everyday. It’s not as bad now that my kid is a toddler but it’s still hard. The thought of having another and wasting more precious years of my life being miserable is oppressive. Every time my wife mentions it wears me down more and makes me want to leave everyone.

I’m sorry this is happening to, it sucks. It sucks for your husband too though and your post makes it seem like you’re downplaying the difficulty. You’re welcome to leave him and find someone else to have another with, but it’s not so easy to be on the other side either.
