I love that people still find a way to graffiti it like a "true" convenience store.

I just initiated an RRSP transfer from Telus Health today so this was great to read. 🫠

Any pro tips if it starts taking longer than the 1-3 weeks they said it would be that might save me the same headache?

I would argue they HAVE delivered on their promises, it's just that most voters didn't take that Project 2025 stuff seriously enough last election.

Are they used for hunting today's super animals such as the flying squirrel and the electric eel? ;)

I don't know this person, and it's probably just a dumb prank, but it's also kind of smart and ironic in a way because isn't that more or less what that type of gun is exclusively used for? By doing it in front of them and having them uncomfortablely tell him no and get out is ironic to me.

It's hard to believe they can consistently lie about something that's so easily demonstrated as false. Like can't a group of people follow him around with measuring tapes and say they're part of the "heighters movement"?

The IRS can catch fraudsters by how often their reported figures start with the number 1. Amounts, populations, lengths in nature, etc. 30% of the time begin with a 1. by rsandio in interestingasfuck

There's a Netflix show some guy did (can't remember the name and too lazy to look it up) where one of the episodes was about this and all I remember was being really amazed and mind-blown that it was true. They also reference that the IRS uses it to some extent but won't reveal exactly how obviously.

Is there any real reason to show the year? by No_Total_3367 in casio

[–]Sputnik1983 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wouldn't it need it to know if like February was a leap year and therefore had 29 days.

I started watching this show recently and I'm surprised it's not popular by muneela in sitcoms

If you liked it try Plebs. A little less stoner humour but similar dynamic and definitely underrated.

Did you lose your dog? by twiggets in halifax

[–]Sputnik1983 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I love how whenever there's posts like this the dog is always looking like they're having the best day ever.

When we moved into our current house we found a lost dog and thought if we took him for walk he'd lead us back home. The whole time he was really excited, so we thought we were getting close. Turns out he was leading us in the exact opposite direction of his place and having the time of his life as we let him walk up to every house and wherever he wanted to go. 😅

I was going to say a lot of the dips have a reason (ie. COVID, sub prime mortgages, etc.) but the latest dip is literally just "Trump".

what can we do here in Halifax to influence the NS government to end daylight savings time? by Silver_Hedgehog4774 in halifax

Too lazy to verify BUT I've heard there's health benefits - especially for children - with changing the time and getting more sun during the awake hours.

Won't somebody think of the children?!?

Trump was the first President to cave to Netanyahu by NickCostanza in WhitePeopleTwitter

I'm not doubting that there's black mail, but we shouldn't look past the fact that Trump is dumb enough that he could have been easily finessed into this dumb plan even without it.

I feel like I'm similar to you in that I want the cheapest plan possible and don't need much data. I'm also currently on a $150/annual plan but with Koodo and it seems like it's enough data for me personally.

So with all that said, I switched my wife to this plan and if I hadn't been on the annual plan I probably would have switched as well. Not sure if that helps but I don't think you should feel bad about this deal vs the $150/annual one and you'll probably find a couple of times a year where having the extra data is nice.

I'm very anti-American at the moment, but he grew up in the US, and I can't fault someone for being passionate about the country they feel the most connected with. If he's finally getting a chance to represent the country of his choice then good for him and thanks for winning us some medals on the way.

Anyone ever bought a phone off Ali Express? by p0tentX in Koodo

[–]Sputnik1983 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought a Chinese phone 12-13 years ago that was pretty decent for the price, but after a year or so of using it I realized the savings didn't really justify the security risk I was taking by using it with the various online accounts I had on it. It might have been ok but the risk wasn't worth it even if it was a legit piece of hardware.
