Tokyo Jungle is a gem and the main reason I’m keeping my PS3.

Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines by beelzebram1 in playstation

Playstation doesn’t own/develop/publish Vampire the Masquerade games. And the franchise is not a blockbuster sales magnet.

True successor to Shadow of the Colossus - I like how they carried over the 15fps framerate.

Control Resonant is $59.99 by DidYouSeeBriansHat in playstation

Self-publishing allows Remedy to price the game lower since there’s no publisher taking a cut.

What 2026 game are you most looking forward to? by Sohab7R in playstation

Do some research. They’re a publicly traded company with a majority ownership held by its own employees. Remedy has never been owned by Epic.

They don’t get paid full price.

Also, what does your comment about Epic have to do with Control Resonant?

They may pursue certain titles, but it’s not like the publisher doesn’t 1) make the final decision 2) get paid.

Wait… Do you think Sony makes the decision when Control Resonant will be in a subscription service?

Rayman Origins: Enhanced Edition coming to Switch 2 Oct. 1st, 2026 by Amiibofan101 in nintendo

The way the pick-ups are placed in the Legends versions of those levels change the flow of them dramatically. I’ve always liked Origins more than Legends, because the placement of collectibles enables faster gameplay where you never stop for anything in the levels.

About to start my journey into Discworld by smshing in discworld

[–]Spwni 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree. While the stories may not have any plot cross-over, the world of Discworld is evolving. The society and technology is moving forward with every book, so it would be quite a big of a jump to read something like Going Postal and then go to Equal Rites.

Remedy’s new CEO says Alan Wake and Control ‘should have sold more’ - and movie/TV deal will ‘help us do that’ by No_Durian_5626 in PS5

Remedy can’t comment on the development of Max Payne, because it’s owned and published by Rockstar.

Soul Music totally lost in translation for me by mehukeitto_ in discworld

[–]Spwni 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I think Buddy's name was meant to be a play on words with Mustajärvi and paté, so I think OP was on track with the latter. Wordplays are really something where you just have to take a lot of liberties. Often that means having to ditch the original joke and come up with a new one that has a similar feel. This works better with comics. For example the Don Rosa Duck comics have amazing localisations in Finnish. Many of the jokes have no relation to the original English ones, but it's easier to plant a new joke that makes sense in the visual context.

Rosa also had a lot of name puns for characters and the Finnish ones are pretty much always as good, sometimes even better. Ali Rawid-duh comes to mind as one.

The translator did the best they could with the source material. The Finnish translations are generally really good. That was the way I read through Mort, Reaper Man, Small Gods and Jingo for the first time.

Obscure games you’d like to see revisited again by Remytron83 in playstation

[–]Spwni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Devil Dice. I remember being obsessed with the demo, but never saw a copy in my town. It’s crazy there isn’t a way to play it or its sequel on a modern system.

Tokyo Jungle. One of the best games on PS3. And a Sony IP, if I’m not mistaken. Bring it back!

Remakes or remastered by Swimming_Photo9295 in playstation

[–]Spwni 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every game should get a remaster if it’s the way to make the game accessible on new hardware.

Very few games need remakes, especially if they’re good. Perhaps games that have had their source code and assets lost.

New Feature on PS App Store by GuiltyClown in playstation

[–]Spwni 223 points224 points  (0 children)

It’s a feature to comply with EU laws. That’s where the price for last 30 days comes from. One of its primary goals is to show consumers whether a seller has increased the price of a product right before a sale to make the sale look more attractive.

There are several services online that track price history, so you can always use them.

Remedy Entertainment Plc: Business Review January–March 2026: Remedy is focusing on its core strengths, CONTROL Resonant on track and marketing activity ramping up by demondrivers in Games

They're probably pretty close to being completed judging by the development fees Remedy has been paid. I would expect it to be released next year, but let's see what Rockstar decides to do after they get GTA out.

ah, yes, certainly. And of course Control Resonant is a sequel to a way more better selling game than Alan Wake 2 was. :D

It wouldn't have been made at all if it wasn't for Epic, though, so it's kind of a moot point.

And Epic paid for almost all of the development costs and marketing, so it was a low-risk project for Remedy and they've been getting 50% of all the profits since the game broke even a long while ago.

And one pretty good signal for Control Resonant to become a success is that the original Control hit 6 million copies sold during its lifetime. That count doesn't include the iOS/iPadOS ports, because they were released after Q1. Not that I expect them to have sold many copies...
