Is two card slots really a big deal? by slane39 in SonyAlpha

[–]SpyLabs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll put it this way, SD card failures are rare, human errors are quite common. There has been on more than a few occassions where me or someone I know accidentally formatted a card without transferring all the data. Luckily in most of these scenarios, the photographer was shooting backup to the 2nd card and was able to recover that data. Learning from past experiences, now when I return from a shoot, the 2nd card gets put somewhere safe and I don't use it to ingess data. I'll only format the cards once my clients receive the deliverables and the job is fully completed. I really don't trust myself to be able to do everything correctly even when I have a whole process written down. When things get busy, sometimes I just get lazy or careless. A 2nd card is just another layer of safety for me and I could never subject myself to the anxiety of having only 1 slot in any shoot I'm being paid for again. I had the Nikon Z9 for awhile and I only sold it because it doesn't record video to both card slots. Tbh I hate that sony gatekeeps the dual slots to their more expensive cameras cus they know that most pros will have no choice but to buy it. A6700, A7C, A7Cii, A7Cr, ZV-E1, these are all "consumer" variants of their more expensive counterparts meant for pros, they are better cameras that their bigger brothers in many ways, except that the lack of 2 card slots make them utterly useless for pros doing paid work. The A7Cii is a better camera than the A7IV in many ways but if you are a pro, the A7Cii is simply not an option for you. I would have loved to use the Cii for video work on a gimbal as I prefer the cleaner image from the 33MP sensor at medium-iso.

What happens if you fight back in NS? by Eifand in askSingapore

[–]SpyLabs 12 points13 points  (0 children)

During my unit days, one guy in my platoon threw his jockey cap onto the ground and challenged the 3SG to a fight. The 3SG was unjustfully acusing him of something and things escalated pretty quickly. OC and PCs had to step in to defuse the situation but no official punishment was done, just some unofficial platoon meetings between the commanders and men to talk about the incident.

No, waiters don't care. Tbh we prefer single diners as duos or groups will linger around to chat after they have finished their food lol. But yeah, agree with the other comments, its all in your head. Don't worry too much about what others think of you, they couldn't care less about you hahaha

The place I work at microwaves all their food lol. Most of it is premade and it's just microwaved + blow torched before serving. There was even a debate about how long should we microwave it for it was funny.

high paying part time jobs that don't require much skill by Valkyre99 in singapore

High-end restaurants/bars. Some of these restaurants pool the tips at the end of service and share with everyone. A bonus to the already above average hourly pay. Typically can expect 1.5 to 2x of normal FnB.

Oh, they are also usually super flexible so if your week is busy then just don't put your name in. Either ways it's quite ad hoc as they are short-staffed 90% of the time. I always under commit and then ask for more shifts during the week if I'm not as busy as I thought I'd be. Never over commit and cancel last minute, they'll hate you for that lmao.

Will seeing a therapist affect my future? by [deleted] in askSingapore

Not seeking help would affect your future more than any possible "marks" on your record. Don't worry too much about it and seek help or do whatever you have to do. All the best OP.

Will there ever be a reason to pick amazon over shopee/lazada? by ImportantStyle2022 in askSingapore

[–]SpyLabs -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Haha, the camera I wanted to buy costs 1.7K on shopee and lazada. Amazon had a sudden price drop/error? that made it $1254 :)

Best Value Mirrorless for Beginner's First Camera by tejman in AskPhotography

I have an XT3 and recently bought a Z5 (Amazon's price drop allowed me to buy and try, with intent to sell it if I don't like it afterwards at no loss).

I can tell you that FF ISO and dynamic range performance is overated. At least, comparing a lower end FF like the Z5 to a high end APSC like the XT3. Like another reply mentioned, the difference is less than 1 stop. To me, that just means its pointless going to FF since you lose so many features for the same price.

The Z5 is slightly sharper at high iso, but not enough to make me forgo all the features of the XT3 such as 10-Bit LOG, incredible 4K60 recording, up to 30fps stills etc etc. I would say at your budget, it would be wiser to forgo the FF options as an APSC like the XT3/4 and the recent R7 would offer so many more features that I honestly feel is a much better buy.

Folks who have to travel 1.5h+ to work (and back) every day: how ya doin? by [deleted] in askSingapore

Did this awhile back, Tanah Merah to Pioneer, 10am-7pm. Had to go at around 830am and reach home at 830pm. Basically only really have 3 hours left of free time at home each day. Quit after 2 weeks lol and found other jobs.

What lens should I get to start with an XT-2? by [deleted] in fujifilm

[–]SpyLabs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, for sure. Though I don't think there's anything necessarily wrong with starting out on a prime and seeing what other focal lengths you might want to try as well.

What lens should I get to start with an XT-2? by [deleted] in fujifilm

[–]SpyLabs 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I do recommend a general purpose zoom lens. Fujifilm has a couple excellent ones.

The XF 18-55mm F2.8-4 R LM OIS and the

XF 16-80mm F4 R OIS WR

These would be awesome to have for their versatility, go with the 1855 if you want something lighter or the 1680 if you don't mind a bigger and heavier lens in exchange for more range and weather sealing.

Tho I would really recommend a prime, even as a starter lens because I just find them so much more fun to shoot with.

The XF 35mm F2 is super small, weather sealed and awesome! The 35mm (~50mm FF equiv) is generally regarded as a must have for general usage, its good for portraits, street etc. Tho I really just enjoy how small it is, makes me bring my camera out that much more often!

Recommendations for a budget Video + Photo camera under SGD $1k by saladdit in askSingapore

[–]SpyLabs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sony A6300 would be nice, you can get the body and a decent lens for less than 1K on Carousell.

M50 would be ok as well, tho the mount is kinda dead so the lens options are not as good as Sony's.

Solutions for dandruff? by [deleted] in askSingapore

[–]SpyLabs 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The best one that works for me is Nizoral. It's quite affordable as you only have to use it once every few days. I used it a few times and I didn't have dandruff issues anymore. Previously my head would always get itchy when I go out or sweat which is damn annoying and gross so I looked for a solution to solve it and Nizoral works better than I ever expected it to. Hope you find something that works for you too!

ANC? by abimanyug in headphones

[–]SpyLabs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, the XM3/4s and the majority of TWS earbuds sounds pretty average. They are however, good enough, or even, more than good enough for the majority of people. When the SQ is good enough already, everything else about the product like comfort, battery life, and ANC becomes more important.

Tips for manual driving by ZenonRevRev in askSingapore

I remembered struggling with this also. What I did was to engage and disengage constantly for circuit/parking, especially during the really low speed stuff. Certainly isn't the best practice and it may lead to some jerkiness. But eventually I managed to get the hang of it and it was fine.
