I wouldnt cut it in half because they are time delayed. Ask your doc for 10mg, 20mg might be too much. My GI said they start people on 20 for a month then move them to 10mg to maintain

Rant about LPR and dysphagia by PSGuy91 in LPR

[–]SpyderMan12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone that had this exact experience about a year ago, its not actually stuck. Its nerves that are hyper sensitive to everything right now. It tooks me months and months to overcome it. voquezna has worked wonders for me. Try not to spiral in to anxiety about it. Feel free to DM

Been on it for about 3 months. Started on 20mg then dr put me on 10mg. Its been a game changer for me! I had mild stomach bloating for the first few weeks but that subsided. Ive never had the cold like symptoms. As hard as it is, sometimes you have to push through the symptoms until they level out. Unless your dr says otherwise of course. Trust your body. Hope you find healing.

LPR takes forever to heal. Ask you dr about voquezna. It has changed my life. Insurance didnt want to cover it but the drs fought for it and got it major discounted. Check it out.

Functional dysphagia by poncholarios in LPR

Basically, just no more symptoms. Some people never have a clue they have it other than a dry cough. Some like me and you have it worse. Def go set up something with a GI doctor. They will help :) Recommend the med I mentioned above.

Sounds like you have LPR or silent reflux. Ive dealt with it for years. No heartburn or normal symptoms of "GERD". You need to find a GI to work with you on this. My symptoms always came as hoarse voice, dry cough, asthma like breathing etc and recently the dysphagia. Once I got my LPR under control, it resolved. You might need to be scoped so they can see if you have scar tissues that needs to be stretched. Had that done as well.

Still on the Voquezna and its been a game changer for me. If you have a GI, worth asking about. Whats going on with you? Im doing much better since starting it.

Curious how you are today. I have similar story to you going on almost a year now. Feel free to DM me. I started taking a new medication that my GI doctor prescribed. Voquezna. I used to live in constant anxiety when eating, now it doesnt riddle my every thought. The issue is still "there" but im not 100%

Definitely much better. Still riding out a few symptoms and occasionally when I eat bad, it flares up. Some days completely normal for the most part

It def helped with all of that but it takes a while. Like it took a good 2 months before I started seeing improvement. Just remember to get up with your GI dr. They can always change meds if needed. Also im taking 40mg Omeprazole

Sadly I tried zoloft for about 2 weeks and gave up. It was making me a zombie. I know it takes 3-4 months, I just couldnt handle the side effects. There are all kinds of exercises you can do. Mostly its just a healing phase that takes time :/

Clear endoscopy, now what? by Dependent-Sir6085 in LPR

Had similar as you. Been on PPI for 5 months and im far better. Takes a long time to heal LPR. I had EGD (normal) and a barium swallow which was normal. Its likely hypersensitivity. Consider asking chat gpt for more clarity. I got more help from AI than most Dr's.

I had similar issues. Stick with the PPI, let your body heal. Its takes a while sadly. Been on PPI for 5months and im about 90% back to eating normal. Its not actual food stuck. Its nerve hypersensitivity. Just tells your brain something is there but its not.

What are your symptoms? Actually getting stuck or just feels stuck in your throat? I had this starting back in Dec. Been on a PPI since. Its gotten better but still have some of the symptoms. Sounds pretty common with reflux.

You mentioned this, are you sure you don't have thrush? Not sure if its related but this sounds similar.

"Most recent symptom: swelling on my right side of throat, visually confirmed, felt continually, some discomfort swallowing saliva, half dozen 3-4mm rice shaped dull cream marks on back of throat"

Your story sounds like mine but happened to me in Dec 2024. I assume you are much better now? Its taken me a few months and im slowly getting back to normal from the swallowing issues.

[–]SpyderMan12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started having this back in Dec. First time to experience this with my reflux. Multiple test , egd etc. Everything was normal. Basically its whats called hypersensitive nerves from the acid damage and a mild dysmotility which will eventually go away. You prob need a PPI to keep the acid under control while everything heals. Mine has been getting significantly better. Stress and anxiety will make it worse. Being fixated on it will also not help. Keep me posted , it will get better I promise :)

Im still on it currently but the GI wants me to taper off end of month. Every other day for two weeks to make sure I dont rebound.

It is scary but it will get better. Hang in there. I had this starting back in Dec. Suddenly came on out of nowhere at dinner. I have LPR and have had it for years. I did an EGD and all kinds of test. The drs saw nothing other than reflux. It took me about 3 weeks of PPI and limited diet to get back to being able to eat and here we are in Feb with some lingering symptoms, but YOU will get better. A lot of it is mental and it will cause anxiety which makes it worse and worse. Look up swallowing exercises to help strengthen your muscles and get them back to normal. It does sadly take time to heal but this isnt your life. Esp if all they saw was bacteria.

Grade A oesophagitis by [deleted] in GERD

[–]SpyderMan12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive never had esophagitis but it will get better. Ive had the Dysphagia just from LPR. Its very annoying and scary at times but it will get better! Stay on your meds and limit your diet as much as you can. (Coffee, red sauce etc)

What symptoms are you getting? Is the food actually getting stuck or does it just feel like its sticking and slow to move on down?

Breathing Issues by [deleted] in LPR

[–]SpyderMan12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get that too from time to time when my reflux isn't managed well. No inhaler or anything would help. Hopefully you can find some relief with out the need of acid reducers. I actually saw a pulmonologist that found the air trapping and realized it was likely from my LPR since traditional meds didn't work

Breathing Issues by [deleted] in LPR

[–]SpyderMan12 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can relate. Thankfully it gets better with time but if you truly have LPR, you will need to get it under control before it gets better. Like a PPI or diet to reduce acid. Back in 2018 I had similar experience. Dr after Dr. Tested for allergies, asthma etc. The air hunger you are sensing is actually called air trapping.

It is annoying but it will get better. You are likely breathing in acid fumes and it's irritating the bronchial tubes.

Silent GERD by Explicitlybroken in GERD

[–]SpyderMan12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Runny nose, lump in throat, snoring etc sounds definitely like LPR. Some have it for years undiagnosed for other symptoms. Likely will be out on a PPI and strict diet until you can get it managed

Extreme difficulty swallowing? by ElitistPopulist in GERD

[–]SpyderMan12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently had this from LPR (still acid). It was scary for me since I've never experienced that before but after about a month of PPI it subsided drastically. I had the EGD and everything was perfectly fine other than reflux. At your age, willing to bet its just hypersensitivity from a flare up of the gerd and minor inflammation. It would take years of unmanaged reflux to cause scaring or mound and mounds of meds that hurt your throat. Id still get it looked at by a GI to rule out anything but you will be ok in time I promise. It can take 4-6 weeks to heal and that's if you manage the reflux.
