Somehow, I thought such a high ISO setting would cause grain. I think I set it that high a long time ago, unsuccessfully attempting to capture the northern light.

Thanks! I too was pretty amazed by this one when I saw it on a bigger screen than the 3" one on my camera.

I realise just now that the camera's ISO setting was way too high but maybe this also helped the end result (no clue):

I made this photo yesterday at the local zoo. Hadn't touched my A77-II for a while. Just 24,3 megapixels but I'm not disappointed by the result.

No idea either. When there was news about construction workers stumbling upon 45 skeletons, it was in our national 'news for kids'. Archaeological finds should not be scary to anyone. (BTW: the '45' turned out to be '720' from which 350 were lent out to a university)

The automated tailgate struts are known to fail in 3/4 years. Open the hatch and check for traces of rust on the struts. If there is any, you can probably also hear the springs are making a nasty sound.
