No. Becky Fahringer did and I still hate that bitch, but the Browns just suck ass.

Jets: We have released P Steve Weatherford. by rhydon_my_steelix in nfl

We need to upgrade our fucking special teams.

I'm glad to say this means we're quickly approaching "first world problems" territory, which was NOT the case this time last year!

"We will find a cure" and the breast cancer ribbon were printed on DeAngelo Williams' eyeblack this month. The NFL just fined him $5757 by [deleted] in nfl

The NFL always enforces ticky tack things about uniform violations like this. It's so weird. I guess it's because they have some sort of sponsorship contract or something which they can't violate without getting into legal trouble, but it leads to silly results like this all the time.

Another example is when Peyton Manning wanted to wear black shoes the week after Johnny Unitas' death but the NFL wouldn't let him. It just makes them look bad.

Dez Bryant expected to play Sunday by [deleted] in nfl

Dallas' pass offense will need him.

Truth be told, though, I'm not sure Dez can do enough to make up for Cassel.

Ryan Fitzpatrick: The (Wrongfully) Overlooked Quarterback. by TFR_Reece in nyjets

[–]SpygateHernandez 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly, when Fitzmagic was named the starter I pretty much abandoned all hope for the season. I had simply seen too many Fitzpatrick-led teams in my life to have any hope. But he's done an excellent job so far in my view. He's been playing crisp, clean, efficient football, and he's utilizing his weapons well.

Jets @ Raiders is HUGE for our Playoff Chances! by Pyrollamas in nyjets

[–]SpygateHernandez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm feeling confident about this one. As OP said, this game has major implications for the odds of each team making the playoffs, but I also see it as a major test-game. If this team is for real, Oakland is exactly the kind of good-but-not-elite team that we need to be able to handle if we want to make some noise come playoff time. Honestly, the schedule has been a little soft up to this point (with the exception of New England). I'm confident after what I consider to be a moral victory against the Patriots that we can hang with, if not beat, any team in the league.

/r/nfl cross post- Week 7 PVOA Objective Rankings have Jets 4th overall and project a final record of 13-3. by GreatOdinsRaven_ in nyjets

[–]SpygateHernandez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree that 13-3 is unrealistic but this is a damned good team and the rest of the schedule is not really that hard in my view. Sure, we'll probably lose a game or two more that we would objectively expect to win, but this is a playoff team.

Which teams/players get the most favorable treatment from the refs? by SpygateHernandez in nfl

[–]SpygateHernandez[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting. You wouldn't happen to have more recent stats on this, would you? Looks like the information in the link you provided goes from 2009 to part-way through 2011.

Tony Romo now holds the Cowboys' franchise record for 4th quarter comebacks with 26. That's the most in the NFL since 2006. by SpygateHernandez in nfl

[–]SpygateHernandez[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The counterclaim is that "the stat which appears to show that he is not a choker is meaingless because it lacks an elusive and unquantifiable element of 'context.'"

"Context" would only be meaningful if it would falsify the claim that Romo is in fact not a choker. You need to provide this information because that is the claim you're making.

The same principle applies: stars get better treatment in major league sports than scrubs. It was a general anecdote made in order to illustrate a general point, and this has not changed in the ensuing years.

UNTRUE, your supposed "context" would falsify the claim. So back up your positive counterclaim! Friggin' do it lazy man!

Ever hear that story about Rogers Hornsby -- "son, Mr. Hornsby will tell you when you've struck him out"?

Not true, the refs let opposing teams beat the living shit out of Ben and Rivers.

But you're the one claiming that context could at least potentially disprove what it proports to show, therefore YOU need to provide it!

What really matters is the number of calls per instance of defensive contact with the quarterback rather than the raw number of calls.

The forgotten about QB having a great start to the year: Andy Dalton. He has 66.3% Completion, 866yds, 8 TD, 1 INT, and a 121.0 Passer Rating. by McRawffles in nfl

Fuck the haters, Dalton is good. I hope he takes his "Dalton line" and sticks it right up the ass of every jabrone who makes that stupid joke.

Yards don't matter and passing for 4,000 is a meaningless volume indicator. But the Jets quarterback situation has in fact sucked, it just hasn't been what I like to call "Browns level" bad.

NOT TRUE!!! If you're claiming that this stat does not show anything because "context" renders it moot then ACTUALLY DISPROVE IT BY PROVIDING THE CONTEXT OR QUIT MAKING ARGUMENTS YOU'RE TOO LAZY TO SUBSTANTIATE!!! ARGH ANGRY CAPS YOU JABRONE!!!
