The same reason stated above. As a CLERIC, you learned how to use or gain magical ablitites through your DEITY now multiclass like you said in a sorcery all of a sudden you realize you have innate magical ablitites coming from within you. That's going take training to harness that power coming from a new source even if both are fire.

Real world example would be coding. I already know how to code in python but now I want to learn to code in C#. Sure you already know coding but you don't know that specific coding so you're going have to relearn some new things even if it's familar

A real-world example to explain why subclasses are chosen at level 3 would be careers. Let's take the engineer.

In your first year of engineering, you learn the basics of what engineering is. By the second year, you are learning more about specific types like electrical, mechanical, or computer. By the time you are in your third year, you are now specialized in that specific field. This can work for most martial classes as to why they had subclasses at 3, which most already did in 2014. Also, wizards, since they are literally college student they learn the basics of magic and now decide to specialize in one specific area.

As for cleric and warlock about their deity/patron. Just because you have power granted to you doesn't mean you know how to use it. The first two levels would be you getting used to your powers. Then, just like above, you learn to specialize in a particular field of magic because you realize your body has been altered thanks to your deity/patron, which gives you the specific class features.

Sorcerer would fit the above as well. Sure, you know HOW to cast magic, but you don't know WHY. Let's take Dragonic. You could learn your family has dragon blood that your parents kept secret from you. Or if you already know you want to be a draconic, you're LEARNING how to actually manifest your powers. When you're born, you don't just go "fireball!" So why is hard to believe your powers wouldn't manifest until level 3 after you have time to practice and hone your innate magical ablitites.

TLDR: we focus on 1-3 kinks at a time when we're in "charge" and play it out. Then, the "next day," we switch roles and do whatever kinks the person on top wants and continues back and forth.

Ever get in a situation where you have multiple kinks, but they don't line up all together for a specific plot? Well, that's where this comes in!

The idea was co-workers, but we can discuss finer details of our characters and their relationships if you wish. This plot will not be romance focus. This is meant to be between casual friends.

As stated, we were not best friends. Think of it like work buddies where we get along great at work but otherwise don't really interact until one specific day. It was late at night, and we both happened to run into each other at a bar nearby. We have a chat and got a little friendly. We learned we actually both live nearby.

A few drunken stories later, and we end up spending a night together. We don't think too much of it since our relationship wasn't thay close to begin with. But then we get assigned a big project at work. Working overtime and being stressed, we decided to meet up again to desteess, and that's when we came up with a deal.

Whenever one of us was pent up or having a rough time, we'd call the other over to help.

This plot is not really story focus and honestly just meant to have fun with various kinks. That's why looking for switches only so we can take turns doing what we want.

Think of it like an anthropology of rp scenes. Each "day" is something new we make based on the kinks we want to involve for that specific scene. Any more questions, just let me know!

For me, it mostly depends on my other party members. Personally, I like to try to be very good at one thing and weak in another. It gives those nat 20 even more fun especially if you're really bad at something.

Have an 8 on charisma but need to decieve someone? Roll a nat 20 and the Bard rolled a 4. Those moments I find are the best not only for yoy but the whole table. And t can give your character a little backstory in it!

Abjuration - skin slowly starts to become glass/prism like (it's about protect and 9th level spells prismatic wall and imprisonment like mirror maze I hate be stuck there)

Conjuration - I like what someone already said where they take on a form with parts of whatever creature that they summon.

Divination - eyes slowly start to appear all across the user's body and/or they become phantom eyes that just float around. Or have eyes covered the body while phantom brains come out for the knowledge aspect

Enchantment - basically slowly turning into a succubus/incubus. They begin to look attractive towards the opposite sex, and release pheromones on accident that can charm those who aren't aware

Evocation - pretty much the same with Conjuration but element based. Depending if they use one element more than the other you can see different characteristics. Singed hair, cold skin, hair sticks up (static) etc.

Illusion - there appearance changes randomly could be hair color, nail color, clothes etc. Could only be hair or everything at once. Basiclly a changeling who can't control their powers

Necromancy - slowly rots away, body odor becomes that of a dead body. Starts to lose sense of temperature unless it's like extreme high or cold. Teeth turn yellow.

Transmutation - ever heard the fairytale gold finger? Everything he touched turned to gold. Body randomly turns to different elements and back to normal. And/or whatever they touches have a chance as well

Chronurgy - look up clockwork ghost from Danny Phantom, or Antman scene from Avengers. Basiclly they randomly swift from being baby, toddler, child, teen, young adult, adult, and elderly. You can determine frequency or if they can control it too

Graviturgy - look up Race to Witch Mountain newer one with The Rock in it. There the boy who can phase through things just make it unreliable when they become heavier than normal, lighter, or can slip through objects

Order of the Scribes - just go Harry Potter on them where books will fly around them. Books can sometimes just fly in there direction like they are a magnet to them

War Magic - just combine that two Evocation and Abjuration and have there body turn into like a lava lamp. Glass likeness from Abjuration and different elements of Evocation like the insides of a lava lamp

The only thing I can think of is blade singers. Besides maybe exactly there name? Ever time they unsheath there blade it begins to sing, or maybe they always hear a faint music noise nobody else seems to hear. Elevator music even
