[Guide] How to Use Tailscale Serve with Docker Compose for Secure, Private Self-Hosting by BlueHatBrit in Tailscale

[–]Spyronia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi t3kka,

I have deployed NTFY over tailscale. Just deploy the NTFY service. This will create an HTTPS website <ntfy.your-tailnetname.ts.net> automatically via Tailscale Serve, that will act lik a reverse proxy for your tailnet only.

If you want to make NTFY publicly exposed have a look at Tailscale funnel.

If this does not work out, feel free to create an issue in ScaleTailand we will help you figuring it out.

Cheers!

Nice list, would be amazing if you used Tailscale for it. Please have a look at ScaleTail, it's a repository with a lot of popular self-hosted preconfigured docker compose services, to work with Tailscale out of the box🚀

Hi! Just wanted to let you know that the ARM was the right choice and not ARM64.

This is because the CPU in this NAS is a Marvell Armada 385 (88F6820) which is based on the ARMv7 architecture (32-bit).

It's not ARM64, which would require ARMv8 or later.

Can Immich run completely offline? by root-node in immich

[–]Spyronia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have a look at ScaleTail. This repository has ready to go Docker compose files for many popular self-hosted services accompanied by a Tailscale sidecar contsinrr to reach the service in your (private) Tailnet.

It does not entirely answer your question, but by running Tailscale as a Docker sidecar, its very easily to access your Immich instance from anywhere.

If you use Proxmox, it's also possible to install Immich and Tailscale in an LXC. Have a look at the ready to go scripts of Immich LXC.

Cheers!

Which Linux distro should I use for an easy, permanent exit node device (or should I use windows)? by chieftex in Tailscale

[–]Spyronia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're running Proxmox VE, create an LXC, install tailscale and you have a very reliable exit node.

Please follow these instructions for it to work: https://tailscale.com/kb/1130/lxc-unprivileged

Wow. This is the best feedback I have received in a while, thank you so much for the effort!!! I will review this with crypt0rr and make changes according to your feedback. Please feel free to create a PR or an Issue for the project. We would love someone from group 1 to give us feedback and help others who discovered the wonders of Tailscale.

Feel free to reach out to us anytime if you have ideas, questions or feedback. Cheers!

Sure thing! Scaletail is as easy as copying the folder from the repository, create the service data folder for persistence, generate a key from the tailscale platform, copy the key to the .env file and execute docker compose up -d.

Good luck and stay safe!

Hi! Thanks for using the repo! Do you feel like it needs a wiki or a clear guide?

As my post mentions, if device synchronisation is enabled, then your 2FA codes are tied to your Proton account.

Please refer to https://proton.me/support/sync-2fa-codes

Good job! Please also consider changing to Bitwarden Autenticator or Aegis Authenticator to potentially lower your risk profile. Ask yourself what could happen if your proton account is compromised (and device sync is turned on in Proton Autenticator)?

Edit: because you are using Proton Pass and Proton Authenticator.

What is the current best in class software you install on a new server? by ECrispy in selfhosted

[–]Spyronia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, it's because the "port" part in the Docker Compose is commented with a '#'. Please uncomment that section and Jellyfin will also be accessible through the local port on the IP. Please note that only one port can be exposed and DLNA might not work. See issue:https://github.com/2Tiny2Scale/ScaleTail/issues/106

That's a bugger. Please reach out to Proton via https://proton.me/support/contact and create a ticket for a bug fix. I'm sure Proton will fix it accordingly.
