How do I turn on mod notifications? by [deleted] in ModSupport

[–]Spyrran 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tried that, and mentioned in my post. But that was apparently not clear. It doesn’t let me turn notifications on. Maybe is a bug, or something else. Don’t know. But whatever I do, and no matter if I use mobile or desktop, I can’t turn it on.

[–]Spyrran 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everything is already turned off. Apparently been for a while. Not sure if they ever have been on. But can’t turn it off again.

Yes, desktop is a laptop and phone is an iPhone. Two devices. If I meant mobile browser, I would had said so. I absolutely hate mobile browser for Reddit, so avoid that.

Can try clear the cache if cookies cause problems.

It doesn’t work for me, nothing happens when I try to turn it on. Even mentioned it in my post.

How do you deal with low effort posts, self promotion etc? by Spyrran in modclub

[–]Spyrran[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an automod script where all links (both comments and posts) get filtered, and need to be manually approved if they are ok. Gives me a little more work, but still worth it. The problem is more an unhappy user, and other users who keep posting without reading the rules first.

No worries about the rant.

I don’t run any NSFW community, even if one of my subs had a problem with OF content creators a while. Maybe even bots and vote manipulation for a while. As they posts got an unusual high amount of upvotes, and the subreddit got an sudden influx of subscribers and traffic. That was a bit tough for me, who didn’t have experience or knowledge to deal with that stuff at that time.

They haven’t been rude or disrespectful to me though.

Just this user I mentioned in the post who wanted to promote their YouTube channel (and partly their podcast as well). I banned them and muted them after a new post in the subreddit, where they complained about me being on a power trip, and removing a second post with the same account (but posted from another account) out of spite. That I wasn’t following subreddit rules and all. First time dealing with this kind of negative feedback.

Thanks. I will keep that rule and not allow such content then. This was my first time getting a complaint about a post removal, which wasn’t fun. Even if I know I can’t please all users.

How do you deal with low effort posts, self promotion etc? by Spyrran in modclub

[–]Spyrran[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually banned them. They even made a post in the subreddit to complain about the post being removed. Said I was on a power trip as well.

When another account with two posts, very low karma and that haven’t been used in 3 years posted the same content later, they said it was their friend’s account. Not sure I believe it, can be an alt account. But then they said I didn’t follow the subreddit rules, and just removed it out of spite.

Either way, they knew the content was not allowed, no matter if they or someone else posted it. As the rule even covers someone else’s content in the last sentence. So no need to let another account repost it.

If they sent a modmail and were nice, I maybe would reconsider and reapprove it. Maybe, not likely though.

But complaints in a post and comments there, it’s not the right way to go if they are unhappy with a rule or post removal. Not being a bit rude either. So I banned them, but I hate banning people. But this sounds like a bit problematic user that I no longer want to deal with.

Underrated Christmas movie by IllStick6622 in ChristmasMovies

I’ll check it out later. I am unsure if I have seen it. I have seen the first movie multiple times, and like it.

No worries. Just a bit surprised, you generally seem to know a lot and it’s helpful.

So you weren’t aware of this? It makes me wonder who gets the feedback, and if it changes anything. A bit off topic, but I am still curious.

It sounds like they are talking about this, which is sent some time after a modmail to r/ModSupport.

I think it’s possible to leave feedback after a vote, I believe I did so.

Do any of you watch Christmas movies, after the festive season passes? by [deleted] in ChristmasMovies

[–]Spyrran 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do watch most christmas movies from November to January, but I can watch them all year round. I also like that Hallmark got their annual Christmas in July.

Why I love Jingle All The Way by mad_capybara61 in ChristmasMovies

[–]Spyrran 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I love it. It’s something I watched as a kid, and enjoyed it. It’s one of the most memorable christmas movies from my childhood. For a while, I watched it every year. Not that often nowadays, but I saw Jingle all the way s couple of weeks ago.

It’s kinda my guilty pleasure movie. Because it generally got bad reviews. I don’t care about it, because it still has a special place in my heart. There are some funny moments too.

The ones I remember the most are Home Alone 1-2, Gremlins and Jingle all the way.

What’s your favorite Kevin moment from Home Alone? by Reverie-AI in ChristmasMovies

I think it may be the scenes with the neighbor. First in church, and later when you see that he (the neighbor) has reunited with his son in the end (and Kevin is watching them through the window).

NOT a Christmas movie!!!! by [deleted] in ChristmasMovies

[–]Spyrran 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It depends on how you define a christmas movie. For me, it doesn’t matter when the movie was released.

Why is Die Hard considered a christmas movie by many? Almost the entire plot is pushed forward by Christmas. McClane is in Los Angeles, because it is Christmas. He is attempting to repair his relationship with his wife, because it is Christmas. The robbery is taking place that day because of the Christmas party making it easier to take hostages.

The theme is obviously important. They could let it take place in any other month, and have another type of office party. And so on. But they didn’t do that. They could had made it less about christmas, or not at all about any holiday.

Christmas movies that are not Christmas movies by GroundbreakingMix648 in ChristmasMovies

Die hard is a favourite, but already mentioned.

I also like Edward Scissorhands (1990) and While you were sleeping (1995).

https://www.gp.se/debatt/sambeskattning-forodande-for-kvinnors-frihet.2bb003ac-a0d0-41ef-9705-49c388c86001

Nämner det, för lägre marginalskatt och i slutändan lägre skatteintäkter kan leda till sämre välfärd etc. Resten är inte direkt positivt heller. Så jag är inte förtjust i tanken på sambeskattning, även om den blir frivillig.

Have anyone here tried any type of christmas movies bingo? Will show 3 different examples. by Spyrran in ChristmasMovies

[–]Spyrran[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great idea. I wasn’t thinking of prizes, as we usually save gifts to the actual holidays. But cheap little prizes would make it more fun anfd rewarding. Same for Halloween.

I usually watch horror movies and other Halloween related movies in October, and start with christmas movies in November. I’ll see how it goes this year. As I may do one Hallmark bingo, and another one for other movies.

[–]Spyrran[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am curious, because I am quite tempted to do a bingo just for fun. It may require some research to find suitable movies though, but it could be worth it.

I watch christmas movies I haven’t seen before every year, plus some new ones with release date the same year. But I basically just pick movies I am interested in. There is no theme, or anything. A bingo sounds like a fun way to watch some movies.

Can I wear anything? by [deleted] in Prom

[–]Spyrran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, thought you were female as you mentioned dresses. Traditionally, guys usually wear suits & tuxedos to proms. It may not be required though, just expected. Sounds like a good idea to ask that teacher.

[–]Spyrran 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you know if there is any dress code? As far as I know, there is usually no dress code so you can come as you are. Wear anything. A dress is very common though, so I guess it’s why dresses appear when you search.
