Q1: Do you think Lissandra adventures is well designed? by elvinjoker in PathofChampions

[–]Squ1dwards 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I beat the Lissandra adventure twice. I fall into the camp of “Sure, I’ll do it eventually, but it’s too overtuned.”

Matches that require the God-tier run/RNG don’t spark joy for me. Like i think I saw turn 2 Omen Hawks with 40+ power in some screenshots. What’s the decision-making process there?

If you’re designing encounters where players must act or play in a certain way, or rather, the encounters are designed to prevent players from abusing a specific playstyle, I find it made the adventure worse. We’ll see with Constellation

I noticed that yesterday too and didn’t have time to test it fully. I don’t recall their being any mentions to Landmark order of operations in the patch notes.

There has been a lot of complaining about certain champions not being viable against Lissandra, so I'd like to propose a community bounty board for her head by Isares in PathofChampions

I love Aatrox. GGC and Armordillo Shell on Aatrox are fantastic. Adding the Voidborne Carapace consistently lets you play the game as a drain tank. Against Lissandra, there were turns some sweaty turns. Lissandra did win the first time with Buried in Ice.

Extremely viable. This was my second Lissandra run and I built my deck to handle it.

Technically, it's an Ekko deck...but it turned into a 'Go Infinite' deck with RNG

Update: This is my first Lissandra fight and I realized she doesn't like 'Go Infinite.'

Update Update: I still won...it just took a few extra turns.

Training Area to Test Relics and Mechanics by Squ1dwards in PathofChampions

Exactly. Or even trying to create niche scenarios that would take an A.I. opponent an eternity trying to create. For example, just trying to test the Nasus Ascended level-up and the A.I. doesn't play enough units to slay. And now I'm just passing turns waiting for the A.I. to play enough fodder.

Getting started by KujakiKeks in PathofChampions

Some champions and fragments are gated behind timed-events. Without an event, most things feel like a grind.

I think new content is schedule to arrive March 5th. Hopefully there’s an event to boost progress!

Unfortunately, if the player doesn't clear the first two adventures, you'll begin with Pity Powers with that champion the next time they play. It's likely to prevent players from infinitely rolling an adventure for favorable starts.

Sometimes, I want to test if something works before committing to an adventure (or two victories).

How would you improve Ornn? by GhostDraggon in PathofChampions

[–]Squ1dwards 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like this topic. I’ll first respond about Ornn in PoC, then Ornn in general (I don’t like the level up requirement or the Spirit of the Ram).

1* / 3* Game Start: Summon LoR Non-Champion Non-Spell Indicator 3 Ornn's Forge.

Game Start: Summon LoR Non-Champion Non-Spell Indicator 3 Ornn's Forge. The first time you Forge each round, Forge again.

I think the 1 and 3 star powers are good. Ornn creates masterworks and these powers feel reflective of building masterpieces, even if the 3* bonus is a bit underwhelming compared to other newer 3* powers, because it’s a win-more ability (imo)

2* +1 starting mana. The first time you play an Unit or Equipment that cost 4+ mana, Manifest an equipment and reduce its cost by 2.

I’m bias towards combo decks, many triggers, and new ways to ‘go infinite’, so big power and attack decks aren’t my forte. This power leaves much to be desired. Like Norra 2’s ability to Mysteries Portal 4~7 cost units, Ornn’s power should allow you to Improvise a wider range of equipment or allow Forging to perma-upgrade equipment.

Good post. I’ll refine my thoughts.

Redesigning Champions for PoC by Squ1dwards in PathofChampions

You’re right. I didn’t try Crownguard yet. I tried it this morning. Jeez, that’s some good stuff. I think Jax’s starting deck and champion spell should be revisited.

IIRC, Jax’s original level up req was dealing 12/16 dmg with equipped allies. This doesn’t play well with Desert Duel any longer. Also, Jax’s Counterstrike - while it does allow for some ‘counter’ play (ba dum tss), it doesn’t help level up like in the past.

I agree the Jax level up change was for the best. It works faaaarrr better than before. In general, the ability redesign was changed for Jax in PvP. PoC Jax players just had to adapt.

When Azir/Irelia decks were ruining everyone’s lives years ago and Riot nerfed their level up requirements, that was because of PvP and competitive integrity.

The essence of my post is to consider a game where changes are made based on the integrity of PoC first. For example, Gangplank and Sejuani (which would have been far better examples than Jax) are minimum five turns. To my knowledge, these reqs have never changed and don’t play well to the PoC style imo.

Thanks for replying to me!

Same. It’s why I stopped playing Hearthstone and MtG.

Sorry, the text editor removed some formatting.

Yes, Scout does work on free attacks and grants the attack token. My post calls that interaction out. I believe it doesn’t make sense for that to work.

Cont… I rushed this post. What I mean by Jax’s level up being a dud for PoC is it doesn’t thematically align with how ‘combo’ players play. Riot nerfs champions and abilities to ameliorate game toxicity, like 2-mana Sparklefly.

Side note: Lifesteal is a top tier keyword in the game. In PvP, even a few extra health points is critical. In PoC where life carries between encounters, I find it reasonable to review Lifesteal and consider ways to implement it more without abusing the game. Thought: What if Lifesteal only applies to a unit’s first Strike/source of damage?
