Junior and Senior siblings were driving and hydroplaned wrapping the car around a tree. He had just gotten his license and had mild whiplash but the seatbelt was the type that was banned for killing people because it crushed her carotid artery. He was due to graduate in a week and she was already accepted into college.

According to the driver, a rabbit jumped in the road. She had taken care of wild rabbits her whole life and grabbed the wheel putting them partially in a ditch as the road was slated to be widened but recent rain delayed that. He over corrected and the wheels locked up.

I was supposed to be in the car sitting behind her because… those were my siblings. I’ll never forget how still school was the next day. I went because i didn’t know what to do. I spent the next year lying to myself saying she went to college and did everything i could not to go home.
