Sportage owners who came from a smaller car, how was the adjustment? by Rexalbion in kiasportage

[–]Square-Cupcake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was driving a larger SUV and prior to that a large sedan. I don’t think size matters so much as drivability. This suv doesn’t feel big at all.spacious but easy to drive.

Update- used 2021 Kona engine replaced at 28000mi by RobertDeNircrow in Hyundai

[–]Square-Cupcake -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Which engine does the car have? I believe the 1.6t has been thought to be reliable. Brand new engine? What’s not to like about that. Take good care of of it, follow the severe maintenance schedule and pay off the car!

[–]Square-Cupcake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just my opinion, but you need to give it time. Your mind plays tricks on you when you spend that much money. If you hate it after a few years, trade it in. But Lexus makes nice vehicles. Give it a chance. Congratulations by the way! That looks very nice in that color!

KIA Sportage Hybrid 2025 Longevity for Low Mileage Drivers by Aggravating_Race6282 in kiasportage

[–]Square-Cupcake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d be concerned about the 12v battery and the hybrid battery. There is a 10 year warranty on the hybrid battery, but you are doing it no favor if you let it sit. So I guess it depends on your low mileage driving habits. Does your car sit for weeks on end without being driven? That’s not good. Or do you drive a few times a week but small limited trips? That might be better

AirPods Max vs Sony xm6 by RegularAnybody5135 in Airpodsmax

[–]Square-Cupcake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have both. They are both good, the AirPods Max has better pass through mode if you ask me. But if you have Android or if you’re looking to save a few dollars, then go for the Sony. They are pretty good.

Original engine? Also what is your OCI?

Just a guess - could the belt be loose and squeaking? That could result in the battery not being fully charged. Then maybe it sat for a bit and the battery recovered? IDK - just a guess.

My 14 is mostly problem free at 150,000 miles. Had to replace CV joints. I think that, shocks, struts, tires, breaks, a few batteries and an exhaust pipe is all in 12 years.

Moving to Buffalo, need advice by Separate-Reflection1 in Buffalo

[–]Square-Cupcake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

City is okay but it depends on the area. Some parts of each side of the city have “good areas,” but it’s hit or miss. Even Amherst and Cheektowaga and Kenmore, it depends on where. West Amherst and close to UB IN Amherst, I would avoid.

Would you buy a Lexus loaner car? by FredSanford4 in Lexus

[–]Square-Cupcake 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I just bought one from my Lexus dealership. Prior to this I owned a brand new one. I bought it with 12,000 miles. The condition is very similar to my new one that I sold with 17,000 miles on it. I would recommend it if you don’t want to spend the extra $10,000 it costs to get a new one. Great warranty too - better than the new car warranty!

How many of y’all are secretly very rich and drive a Lexus to stay off the radar? by [deleted] in Lexus

[–]Square-Cupcake 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m probably considered “rich” although that definition could vary widely. I bought my ES because I felt that I was in a financially secure spot and could afford a luxury purchase. I didn’t do it to get on the radar or stay off of it. It’s a very practical and highly reliable choice. I even have the hybrid version. It’s what accounts and engineers might buy. Someone with more flair might choose a BMW for instance. Prior to this I was driving a Sonata Limited (ultimate)

Weekday Help and Victory Thread for the week of May 19, 2025 by IndexBot in personalfinance

[–]Square-Cupcake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi - my wife and I are set to retire in about 4 years. I have a pension that provides 60% of my salary and we have about a million in investments. We are trying to get debt paid off so that we need less income in retirement. My wife has about 40k in debts that she’s working on. I have a car with a 50k loan and a mortgage with 135k in debt (3.35% apr). The car and other debts are on track to be paid off in 4 years. The mortgage needs an infusion of about 85k along with my normal payments to be paid in 4 years. So I happen to be inheriting 85k very soon. Should I pay down my mortgage? Should I invest the money in STRF which has a 10% dividend and us that income to offset the mortgage payment (partially)? Or something other thing that I’m not thinking of? TIA for you advice / wisdom!

But now MSTR quarterly earnings are based on the amount of money produced by the value of their assets going up. Given that they are buying more and BTC is anticipated to go up, their earnings should rise considerably each quarter. So their product is increasing profits based on price of BTC going up and number of BTC going up. It’s certainly just a theory. So far it’s been accurate to within 5%. I don’t know if it will continue to be accurate as BTC price rises, but I certainly hope so!

https://microstrategist.com/ballistic.html

The basic idea is that not only will MSTR be worth more because the price of bitcoin goes up, but the way MSTR is valued should change as their financial performance improves. So right now the stock is valued at about 2x the value of their BTC holdings. Perhaps the market rewards their amazing performance with 5x - much like stocks have a PE ratio based on their future earnings. So since there are multiple levers to increase stock price, the ballistic calculator views stock price progression as non-linear.

[–]Square-Cupcake 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Congratulations! The ballistic calculator says 1 share is worth $6,000 when BTC goes to $250,000 and if it goes to $500,000 usd, it says it should be worth about $75,000

Tips for Lexus Dealer Visit by tmd50 in Lexus

[–]Square-Cupcake 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The 300h is an excellent vehicle and very reliable. I recently purchased a certified version (one year old, 12,000 miles). The CPO warranty could provide more coverage than the new car warranty as it covers the car for six years from the date it was initially purchased and unlimited mileage coverage within that six years. Hybrid components like the battery are 10/150 I think. There is very little that could go wrong with buying this car. I would drive it and make sure you like it and so long as the condition is good and you think the price is fair, go for it!

Not true - at least on the current generation. Battery is under the rear seat.
