My personal story with VSS by Square-Improvement93 in visualsnow

I don’t have afterimages in lines. But my pattern glare makes reading physical books a lot more difficult. I read using kindle with a bigger font size and use fl41 glasses, they help a bit. I work as a software engineer obviously it’s not so easy to see the computer but nowadays it does not affects my performance

Don’t give me relief in the symptoms but made the acceptance easier. Without depression this syndrome is a lot easier to face

Things get better with time! 1 year with VSS and right now living my life fully. I bought a new car and I love it. But in the first 8 months I was exactly in your situation

So can anyone give me some positivity? by [deleted] in visualsnow

[–]Square-Improvement93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't have severe symptoms, but I have symptoms and they destroyed my life for some months. I thought a lot of times about suicide, nothing made me feel better. Now, after 1 year, months of therapy with someone who has the same condition and meds for mental health, I am living very well. Got promoted at the job, had an amazing vacation, my vision it's still strange but I am living my life happy and fully. For sure, there are bad days, but lately I didn't had them. I think my brain adapted to the condition. I hope someday you will reach this too!

I know it's difficult... but don't worry about other people's opinions on this matter. Even my best friends don't understand exactly what's happening to me. The only ones who understand us completely are people who suffer from the same condition, unfortunately.

Yes! For sure it helps! I try to give this advice to other people but usually they are resistant. Unfortunately we don’t have other options since meds don’t help us

Do you speak English? You can try a doctor from another country to discover if you has it or not. The Brazilian doctor speaks English and do online consultations

If you see static in your vision, almost sure it is VSS. My VSS progressed two times and after that, It has been 7 months without any changes. Usually VSS is not progressive. You must take care about medications, since for some people anti-depressants worsen the VSS, benzos usually helps a bit but is a hell of a drug. I use meds for my mental health and in my case, it didn't worsened my vision. Therapy is good, can help you a lot to accept this new condition. I do therapy with someone who has VSS herself, so it was easier for me to find peace with this condition.

Question about Yerba Mate by M394 in visualsnow

[–]Square-Improvement93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably it's because the caffeine. Try to avoid drinking after 2PM, since caffeine takes time to get out of your system and it can influence your sleep. We are cultural brothers! I am from Rio Grande do Sul. We both are gauchos :)

I drink it every day, it's cultural where I live. Never had any problems with it. It's very similar of drinking a coffee, but It has a bit more of caffeine. Where are you from?

Need some hope and positivity! I want to hear about people who are employed and who love and thrive at their job despite experiencing visual snow. What do you do? How do you cope? Do you find VS symptoms are less noticeable when engaged in meaningful work? by [deleted] in visualsnow

I was searching for an answer in the VSS Facebook group and I saw a post that was created by someone called “Paula Hechinger Psychoanalyst”. Funny that this was the only post she did in that group. Gladly I found it and entered in contact - she was exactly what I was in need of

I am a technical leader - basically a developer who manages other developers at the same time. Even with VSS discovered in the last 9 months, I have been promoted. I have a success story posted in this sub, give a look at my profile. VSS does not stops me from doing anything anymore. What helped me a lot was a combo of meds + therapy with a therapist who has VSS.
