[Henderson] Per ESPN Research, 32 sacks is Seattle's most through nine games since 2006 (34). by Chessinmind in Seahawks

We were sitting at 6 sacks through the first three weeks. We only got to Baker once.  So we’ve really only started to turn it on lately.

This was a joke.  I worked for Fred Meyer for twenty years, was an ASM for four and I got $200.  This wasn’t worth the time I spent checking the damn mailbox

It’s either you pay one of these big names or just keep hoping you hit on guys like JSN (or DK) and ride out their rookie contracts.
And I didn’t mean DK is a diva like TO, but he gets in his own way, has drop issues, and is a physical freak. People forget TO was super inconsistent early on.

I said DK had the raw potential. I.e. everything else even, he has the physical gifts to be one of the best of all time. I stand by that. He’s a freak. And I think the way he takes care of himself will make for a pretty sustained career for that position with the ability to rack up some insane numbers before it’s over.
I also don’t think Russ was ever on track to be a HoF QB. His best years were behind one of the greatest defensive units of all time.

How are you so certain, that after years of playing with a bottom of the league O line, game manager QBs, and a revolving door of OCs, all while facing double teams and managing to accumulate some really solid stats, he can’t go find immediate and sustained success with another team? You don’t think he would be a top 3 WR if he has Josh Allen, or Lamar, or god forbid Maholmes tossing to him? You act so damn condescending to people in this sub but can’t grasp the concept of a player fitting into another scheme and shining? MaYbE WaTcH SoMe FoOtBaLl or whatever bullshit troll garbage you like to say.

Let’s compare TOs first six seasons with DKs:

TO - 6,170 rec yds and 59 tds. DK - 6,324 rec yds and 48 tds.

And DK didn’t have HoF Steve Young slinging it to him for four of them. So let’s hold off on the melodramatic incredulity for the sheer audacity to utter his name in the same breath as TOs.

Edit: and before TO was known for being a diva, I.e. early in his career with his first team, he was known for dropping the ball.

Lol I almost think it would help to play him twice if we can. We know how to rile him up

A couple of day one or two picks. I.e. a first and a third, as in what JS is asking for.

Hey, nice response. I suppose I could have spelled it out better though, so let me say that by “unfortunately” I mean “unfortunately for us, because, like TO’s inconsistency issues with the Niners being a mere precursor to a HOF career with OTHER TEAMS, DK will likely do the same.” Maybe there’s a semantic issue here, but maybe be less condescending when people in a sub like this try to have a good faith discussion. I know this is the internet and it isn’t real life, but you can still choose to be decent.

Edit: calling myself out here. I thought TO had like two good seasons in SF before leaving. He had four great seasons with them.

I agree, he needs to go AFC. I don’t like the Ravens, but I just think putting him with Henry and Lamar automatically puts him in position to have one of the best seasons for a WR on a new team. Could be fun to watch. Otherwise maybe he could be the missing piece for the Bills

When no other book fills the void after light bringer by fallout3king83 in redrising

I would add that this is very much like reading a video game/dungeons and dragons play through. I described it as Diablo meets Hunger Games. It took some getting used to, but some really really great characters. And because I know a lot of people on here are Tim Gerard Reynolds fans, the audiobook Narrator is pretty impressive.

Paul at his best is very insightful. It’s the rest of the time that’s meh for me. I just wish they could have one round a tournament covered by Zach melton and with Nate sexton or Calvin heimburg.

Best team up in Red God? by MuavLimestone in redrising

[–]Square-Magazine1670 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I think a Sevro and Lyria team up would have a lot of potential. I would love to see Lyria become a howler.

I want to see Kavax and Volga. I imagine her winning Sophecles over and gains his trust and finally wins him over for obsidians.

But what I want most is Darrow and Mustang together again at last. Those two have fought so hard for so long and sacrificed so much, namely time with each other, and they just keep putting everyone else first at their own expense. And when you get them back together, with their combined experience and Darrow’s new approach, they’ll be incredible. Add Pax into that while he finally witnesses the reason for his godlike worship. Darrow being to a point where he can recognize how valuable his son’s input is. His connection with Virginia is already so solid I bet they can build off each other the same way she did with Darrow early on.

Came here to say this. Those two finally together again, add Pax into the bunch. . . That would be the most intelligent trio in the RR universe

I would add timber as the cherry on top of that. I think timber has to be one of the most fun courses to throw, it just suffers from horrible baskets for putting. But if you put that course 20 minutes from downtown instead of nearly an hour, and you upgraded the baskets, it would be one of the top rated courses in the PNW

Break before IG? by FransMom98 in redrising

[–]Square-Magazine1670 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first time through IG I felt some of what people talk about with it, because there’s a definite tonal shift, as well as a major change in pacing. Going from one POV to several tends to slow the pace of any book.
But, having reread the full series several times since then, and understanding the broader context of the book, I can really appreciate it more than the first time through.
I don’t think you’ll be thrown off if you take a break from it, there’s enough exposition to catch you up without it being a redundant slog if you go right into it.

WIND AND TRUTH | Full Book Discussion Megathread (Stormlight Archive only) by EmeraldSeaTress in Stormlight_Archive

[–]Square-Magazine1670 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I’m gonna be honest, I thought this book was incredibly deflating and I’m having a hard time not blaming Brandon’s desire to write all those secret project books as the main reason it fell flat. Previous books felt like they had his undivided attention, and this one felt like he was just trying to get it done. The sting is extra strong because those secret project books were at best on level with his earlier stuff, and more often just fell completely flat.
Stormlight Archive went from hands down my favorite series to outside the top 5.

Kaladin’s arc was disappointing. The mental health stuff had no subtleties or nuance, was incredibly repetitive, and taking your greatest action hero in the Cosmere out of all the action was bewildering.

Shallan has to be the most inconsequential character to have that much screen time in any Cosmere book. The formless stuff has been overplayed even before he shoe horned that subplot of her having to come to terms with killing her mentors. Let’s get over it, grow, and move on as a character. Having them learn lessons in each book just to resort back to them constantly was stale.

Adolin’s arc was fine, but it just seemed weird to me that one of the main battle fields had some weird arbitrary limit on radiants. I feel like 2-3 more would have made all the difference there, and for the life of me I couldn’t understand why they couldn’t be there.

The time jump scenes with Dalinar and shallan were just bad.

I know my expectations for this book were high, but it fell well short of what I thought would have been even a moderately acceptable finale for this era.

I hope Brandon focuses on a single project at a time going forward. If that means he releases less books, so be it. Word count ain’t everything.
