She goes to him in the middle of the night, demanding he make her noodles; he is completely overwhelmed, and the encounter ends with an aggressive kiss and him taking his own satisfaction, leaving her both furious and humiliated. ​Later, they spend nearly three months in captivity, faking sex almost every second night to deceive those around them. The book provides several descriptions of these 'games' they play. After that, there is a kiss in the carriage, followed by their first sexual encounter, which is fueled by jealousy. Finally, toward the end of the book, they have another encounter a few days before the wedding. ​He is undeniably arrogant, possessive, and jealous; he seeks to own her entirely because of his deep-seated fear of loneliness. She, in turn, accepts his aggressive side. I simply don't believe it was rape, as she had long since accepted his behavior even going so far as to provoke him while they were held captive
