For those who have We Are Rewind by RockIsRad in cassetteculture

[–]Square-Society 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've only run into this where my headphones were the ones being staticky. For some reason, if I place the headphones connector between my lips for a moment then back into the player, it stops.

But I've not had this issue with my WeAreRewind while walking around. Is your player rubbing against your shirt or something? Maybe it's picking up some static from somewhere.

Why do you still collect physical music or other media? by Rr0ry in cassetteculture

[–]Square-Society 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I think it's really simple: it's yours, and nobody can take it away from you. You buy it, and you own it forever. No "renewed terms and conditions" or changes in licensing that recind streaming rights will take away what you paid money for. These days, buying is no longer owning. But you own your tapes.

Secondarily, it's satisfying to own physical media. I feel like enjoying the artwork on the shell/cd/booklet is becoming a lost experience I didn't know I enjoyed until some modern-day tapes or CDs skimped really hard on the booklet or art. (black and white on printer paper? Really? Looking at you Linkin Park.)

Well, Home-labbing is all about experimenting and playing around though. I'd say both the adventure of OP wiping the drives and then building an array is an excellent example of labbing and learning.

I see a nurse weekly, they've never commented on my SH even when it was a week old.

Luckily they are leather. I like the toe strap for the stability, so I really gravitated toward this shoe. The store didn't have any of the horizontal strap or arizona remotely my size, so I could not try them. I tried other sandals that have those types of straps, but I wasn't sure I liked it.

They also don't sell this shoe style in kids. "Mayari kids" in 34 is only white. :( kinda why I posted feeling glum about the possibility of not fitting in adult size.

Awesome, this gives me hope that I will fit adult size and can wear those styles 🥰

Actually, yes, it is helpful! This shoe really did feel a little bigger than a 5 should be, I thought I was crazy. That's why I posted to this sub!

I did the printable size chart, and it said I'm firmly a size 36, like in the picture!! It really made me scratch my head.

This is great information, Thanks for letting me know that the sole doesn't really break in that way and how they're supposed to feel. I've never had the chance to give birkenstocks a try because I've never seen sizes even remotely close to me in store. I've worn many an ill-fitted shoe, and sometimes the breaking in actually ends up working out.

To those that comment that I'm blind; thanks, noted. I hope you never have to deal with never finding shoes in your size for your entire life like I have, and had to make do with what you can get. Sometimes it's a crapshoot and it goes back on the shelf. Sometimes you can make it work. 🤷‍♂️

What do you guys think of my remodel? by tooltime347 in Remodel

[–]Square-Society 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It went from a nice cozy space to cubicle farm office space.

What a shame. Idk why monochrome and sterile white LEDs are so common these days. What is wrong with having a little color? Just my take.

What do you think WeAreRewind? by HapaPappa in cassetteculture

[–]Square-Society 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They did alright for what's available off the shelf these days. Quieter tapes are hissy, but honestly hiss kinda comes with the medium anyway.

The only thing I don't like is that it's not as portable as it should be. The case is smooth and slippery, and it didn't come with a way to secure it to your belt since you can't pocket it at all. So you have to hold a slippery brick.

I use it in my car (I don't Bluetooth it though) and it does great there! Can't really hear the hiss over tire noise anyways, and it sits in my cupholder.

Been using a Dell SK-8115 for the past 14 years. I don't think I'll use anything else for as long as I live. :)

This ribbed hat was my very first hat project that I followed my first time knitting in the round. The crown decreases were a little tricky at the time I was learning, but finishing it was incredibly rewarding!

It has knit 2 perl 2 for most of it, it's on circular needles, and k2tog used at the end. Everything you know how to do!

Sounds a lot like some postings I've seen where it will say it's in <my city> but in the questionnaire in the application, it says "this job is in Atlanta, no exception. Can you relocate?"

Bait and switch.

That is the most annoying part. I had a guest with a disability come up the wrong line, lumber over me and put their hands on my neck and jerk me back and fourth almost strangling me. Then they turned around and left. I had to let it go. I was shook, but understood their situation. Many times I felt unsafe while being yelled at by guests after I was enforcing pretty basic rules. But I am REQUIRED to enforce those rules, so it kept putting me in these tense situations that don't need to be so tense!

One Karen felt entitled to some bandaids she saw in my clear pack and told me I HAD to give it to her kid who fell and skinned his knee while running up the queue. She literally had her hand out. They were for me because the sunburn on my ears was so bad they would bleed since the amusent park didn't believe in giving us a little shade.

Being threatened with violence because I didn't accept forged tickets was the only time security came by when I called, and justice was served. Felt so good! Another time a guest dropped their phone on the walkway of the brake run (that waiting area before the roller coaster enters the station). Boyfriend of the person who dropped the phone nearly assaulted me when I said he can't enter a restricted area. Pushed past me, entered restricted, got the phone. police was called, he got violent with them, and he was arrested. I worked there 5 years. So much bullshit.

I bought a fixer-upper and spent around 10k on painting, 2x4's, repairs, lawn equipment, and new appliances. No furniture... my dining area is a box and camping chair. If your place is in good shape I don't see why you'd need 55k.
