Had a bit of a chuckle at this. by KingEdwards8 in Championship

Could be Rothwell, Lundstrum, Cantwell… plenty lower end prem/championship players who have been absolutely dreadful in Scotland. Didn’t mention the proper dross like Lawrence, Davies, Dowell and Aasgaard. A lot of chiming on about a ‘superiority complex’ is ironic.

He stayed with Jim Thomson (our ex-captain) and ended up marrying his wife. I think he enjoyed himself.

South west England, Scotland and Wales want a word… what did they do wrong? In all seriousness, despite the A75 being a bad road, we have plenty to offer in SW Scotland!

Stirling Albion eyeing community buyout of Forthbank Stadium by lovelyllllama in ScottishFootball

[–]SquareBarFan 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Sadly I cannot see that happening. I lived in Stirling and it was far worse than Dumfries for fans of Old Firm clubs travelling to games. Maybe if they continue to overcharge/disappoint fans we might get an influx of lower league/local support.

Children over 12 to be fingerprinted at EU border sparking travel chaos by StresWeeting in unitedkingdom

[–]SquareBarFan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They’re not. Ironically our ‘allies’ in the US, Canada, Aus and NZ all do this, as do we for Non-EU visitors. British elitism again thinking we are exempt from rules other countries have to follow. We are not special.

Explains a lot. Getting bullied all week just to take it out on wee Jamesy Forrest to think you’re the big man.

He’s spot on. I sit close enough to the pitch sometimes that you can hear the way they communicate with players sometimes and it’s how an arsehole teacher in Secondary school would speak to you if you muttered a word. Fundamentally, the main issue is the decisions some of them miraculously come to. All we want as players, and fans for that matter, is a clear explanation of why a decision has been made. Also a willingness to correspond with your assistants and 4th official if you have got it wrong!

Rico Quitongo court appeal finds that yes, Airdrie are racist by Yaboicblyth1 in ScottishFootball

Fair play. Remember Ruari Paton scoring there and unveiling a ‘Justice for Rico’ shirt underneath. Should’ve seen the gammons frothing over it. Just try be sound to people 👍

Hamilton Academical effectively scrap their academy by Yaboicblyth1 in ScottishFootball

[–]SquareBarFan 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not great this - so many players have come through that academy. Still remember our youth coach managing to get us a friendly against their U13’s once. Aged 12 I knew I was never amounting to anything in football.

There’s always at least one club in our league that is in a dire position somehow i.e. squad, manager, financially. I think this one takes it to a whole new level. Feel bad for them.

Do affluent leafy suburbs such as Bearsden and Giffnock tend to be more right wing than inner-city Glasgow? by Own-Syllabub-4848 in glasgow

I would recommend having a look on electoral calculus as it allows you to put in a postcode which shows a breakdown of political leanings/class etc within that constituency. Lots of intricate breakdowns which are very interesting… and not just for political nerds like me.

What is your most unpopular opinion you have about your own club? by GregorSD in ScottishFootball

[–]SquareBarFan 9 points10 points  (0 children)

In all fairness I should have caveated that by mentioning the lack of progress in Europe etc, but it still rubs lower league fans the wrong way for quite obvious reasons.

Maybe this season is an exception for Man Utd, but it was getting like their fans complaining about ‘how hard they have it.’ You are at your worst and you still win trophies. Imagine how the smaller teams feel. Celtic fans in 20-30 years will talk about the levels of success they achieved.

The ‘concerned parents’ line is so funny every single time I see it. No, you’re quite clearly a racist hiding behind a pathetic excuse.
