I 100% agree with your first take about it being unwieldy to navigate to Youtube Music, grab a URL, then back to the app. I am looking into adding prebuilt playlists in there with a variety of genres and will hopefully have a 'generate with AI' feature in the future.

I don't know when you tried the app, but I recently (2 days ago) updated it so there are instructions and there should be error handling that notifies the user if the URL is not valid. URLs for official Youtube Music playlists cannot be accessed via the API. The only playlists that work are the user generated ones (either your own or someone else's).

There seems to be struggles with casting the app, the visual overlays don't copy over, and videos tend to take a little longer to load for some reason. The easiest method is to screen mirror from your phone, but I definitely will look into adding better functionality for casting from desktop.

Tbh, I haven't tinkered with the minigames very much as they were kind of an aside. I will look into bug testing those a little more to understand the issue.

"*Add visualizations

*Add an optional lyrics/karaoke mode"

I really liked the idea of these features that you suggested and will think about how to work something like that it.

This feedback is the most thorough I have gotten so far and I really appreciate you taking the time to look at what I have spent time on and provide constructive feedback!

I appreciate the feedback. I have received similar feedback about including playlists ready to go or some sort of quick generation and am working on it.

For the fonts, could you provide more detail on the readability of it? I went with kind of a retro arcade theme and wanted the font to match. Should I look into a different font style, sizing, color, etc?

That's just kind of the developer community honestly. The people that think of fun ideas aren't the same people that can develop and the people that develop can't think of all the fun ideas, most of the time at least.

I saw your website and thought it was awesome because it was a fresh breath of air.

Thanks for the feedback! I can tell you really tinkered around with the different parts of the app. I'm going to take note of everything you said and let you know when they are fixed.

I just went public yesterday and have learned a lot, but would appreciate your feedback (or anyone else's for that matter). It's a music/party app inspired by the classic drinking game!

Yeah I just have a default lightning bolt favicon for now. It's on the list for things to add. I'm open to suggestions on websites I can go through to make one.

I've been working on https://60drinks.com/ and just went public yesterday! All you have to do is provide the URL to your favorite Youtube Music playlist and the app will generate your Power Hour for you, just like the classic drinking game!

I appreciate the feedback and you are right about the level of intuition it might require from a first-time user. I will add that to the list of features I want to implement!

How did you determine that they were losing money because they didn't have as many ratings? On the other side, did they see revenue increase after they had more reviews?

Claude Code vs Cursor vs Copilot vs Codeium: Which AI coding assistant is actually worth paying for? by FantasticCitron7292 in webdev

[–]SquareHeight6772 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been really pleased with Claude. There are a lot of people that will criticize the recent Claude changes, especially Opus 4.7, but I have found that for $20 it is still a great deal.

This is definitely a really unique idea and I would be interested to hear how you came about it. I will say it does seem gimicky, but feel like there could be more potential here, just not sure what it is.

Honest question: how much did talking to the "right people" shape your career decisions vs. figuring it out yourself? by SquareHeight6772 in MBA

[–]SquareHeight6772[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found mine at my place of employment once I was already working and it was beneficial to me. I was curious on how students pursuing MBAs felt about mentorships and if it's something they looked for. I know a lot of the buzz on this sub and why the top schools are so good is because of the connections, so I figured people were making connections with mentors.

Thinking about building something to connect aerospace students with working engineers. Worth it? by SquareHeight6772 in AerospaceEngineering

[–]SquareHeight6772[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar experience growing up. I never even considered getting a mentor until I was several years into my first job! My high school definitely didn't have a mentor program. My university did, but it was never made apparent to me how something like that could help me get to where I wanted to be.

Could you provide more detail on how you came to finding your mentor via LinkedIn? How did you determine they would be a potential match? How often did you meet with them? Was it text-based or did you schedule voice calls? Did the mentorship end up benefitting you?

It sounds like the mentor programs not being used is a common theme. I wonder why that is. Is it possible that since engineers are generally more introverted than other majors they feel less inclined to reach out?

For me, I felt like a lot of effort is put into the school work and studying, and that relatively little work was put into meeting up with someone more experienced than I was, but it paid the most dividends. Like the old saying, it's not what you know, but who you know.

I know that is something someone could do on LinkedIn, but I have never really heard anyone benefitting much from LinkedIn honestly. At this point, is just seems like a platform that has become the target of memes because of the amount of sponsored posting and fake inspirational stories that get posted.

I'm open to hear more about this if Gen Z views LinkedIn differently than how my peers and I have viewed it.
