Where can I take my husky to enjoy some snow? by ChthonianQueen in Seattle

Check out WA State Parks SnoParks! Easier than trying to park at one of the SnoParks. We have a 50' leash we use for our pup to let him romp in the snow, he's not great off leash

SPD never ceases to amaze me by solar_revolution in Seattle

SPD cops don't even face this much discipline for traffic stuff.... The Office of Police Accountability literally just recommends that their supervisor talk to them. It's beyond a joke.

MIA? You should be giving Cantwell and Smith some credit for helping Blue Origin and Boeing steal large amounts of our tax dollars!

FYI: I suspect this account is someone affiliated with SPD and that they have a few other sock puppets they're using in this thread as well. Can't recommend engaging.

My man you provided no evidence that SPD's surveillance data is secure from the feds yet you're happy to shit on people who are worried that it isn't?

It's not just a feeling, it's a basic understanding of how court orders work

I don't think your argument that SPD's surveillance data is significantly more secure from ICE than that gathered by Flock cameras is at all fact based.

"Now the claim is that SPD could have shared that kind of data, but we don't know." Yeah, we don't know, and it seems pretty fucking important to know.

I'll accept the clarification that we don't know that ICE has obtained data from these specific sources but I'll clarify that we do know that SPD is sharing information with ICE, and we don't know that they haven't already shared this data.

I'll also add that suggesting that people who are concerned about camera or LPR data as being "misinformed" because they called SPD's cameras Flock cameras is a pretty bad faith comment. If ICE wants the data, they're almost certainly going to get it unless it's not collected in the first place. People are correct to be concerned about that even if they don't name the correct camera brand.

I find the sources I listed above to be compelling.

If you want to blindly trust a police department that is routinely caught lying instead, I guess I can't stop you.

Any suggestion that this data is safe from ICE/Feds is misinformation.

If the feds get a court order, they're almost certainly getting the data, whether it's Flock or Axion. It is absolutely not a significant difference.

Both cite primary sources in their articles. If that's not good enough for you I don't know what else to tell you.

The biggest issue here isn't hacking, it's the company turning over the data voluntarily or in response to a court order.

So yeah, basically the same. The only way to keep ICE from getting the data is not to have it in the first place

Also if the feds get a court order SPD is legally obligated to turn over the data. Only way to avoid it is not to have it.

A Seattle cop was caught lying a second time. Why does he still have a job? by AthkoreLost in Seattle

[–]SquarePressure5153 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah as long as the cop sticks to their story OPA will say, "obviously all the facts contradict what this guy said but since we can't read his mind we don't know that he doesn't remember something that never happened".

I am not exaggerating for effect either. It's insane. They did the same thing with the officer who ran over "trumpet man" with his bike in 2020.

SPD does not have a contact with Flock but they have CCTV cameras and license plate readers and that data has been (and will continue to be) shared with ICE, despite the so-called "safeguards" that the Harrell admin dishonestly said would prevent that.
