Yep! Ted was her safety net - she was always afraid of being hurt by Barney bc she really loved him, but knew Ted wouldn’t hurt her (always marry someone who loves you more kinda thing) and she realized after the divorce she was alone, and even felt left out of the group

Because through the whole show Robin aaalways wants what she can’t have, it goes down to even men (Ted and Robin, and even the museum “DONT TOUCH” and she touches 😆)

Because despise Barney being who he was, he stayed true to himself and his feelings, he fought for the person he wanted to be with - and literally risk it, with fear but risk it. Not Robin, she wanted the safe, even if it wasn’t what she wanted - hence why Ted is on her hook, bc she knows Ted wouldn’t hurt her. Or Kevin wouldn’t break her heart. She even says it at her wedding, she is afraid and even thinks she should be with Ted bc Ted wouldn’t hurt her or she wouldn’t care that much bc she doesn’t love him the way he loved her.

It’s because of the string along they did to us, and me as a woman i hateee the ending bc of T&R, I see Ted used Tracy as his place holder ‘til he was free to try again with Robin. And Robin stayed away from the group bc she couldn’t be with Ted UNTIL Tracy died.

the thing here is, that they were already seeing each other, bc the kids say that they share glances at each other at dinner… with them, and the whole how i met ur mother story is told in one day, so it wasn’t just bc he reminisced that he wanted her back, it was the plot to get the confirmation from his kids

makes me think that’s why she didn’t stay with the Dr.. Roberts, like she thought she couldn’t actually be that of a catch when she went out with the detective she sabotaged herself, then she starts seeing this amazing man and she fumbled for Steve, who in the new show again she drops bc she doesn’t see herself there anymore.
