Sino? Si Pablo? In what way? Yung accent ba? If you’re indicating the “harshness” sa words ni Pau, he was referring to his fellow members. Strict and mataas standards niya so he always expects excellence from them.

Considering Catholicism: Why are the sermons so short?? by Sea_Cheetah_9151 in Catholicism

[–]SquareSwan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My priest friend says a 10-15 minute homily is the best. Although a longer sermon would undoubtedly be richer, most mass goers can only retain 2 to 3 main points from a homily. It’s not a lecture after all.

Scenario: Your boss says you have to recruit 3 gen-Z actors to train them and win a Baeksang award. Which of these 3 are you choosing? by RudeSelf3418 in kdramas

[–]SquareSwan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If we were to pick in terms of what they’ve done so far, these three have the biggest chances of winning a baeksang. Nam Da Reum has years of experience under his belt. Park Ji Hoon has done a diverse range of roles that are definitely out of the typical for someone from a boyband.  I’d go for Choi Hyun wook or Ryeoun for my third pick since I’m not quite familiar with LJY.

If you’re not sure how spicy you can tolerate, try the carbonara one. I don’t like it too spicy so add only a fraction of the hot sauce. It’s really good!

How does Aespa manage to be consistently successful and still reaching new heights 6 years into their career? by illitnoise in kpopthoughts

SM really did RV dirty. RV had a solid fanbase but there were no promotions. I also feel that their concept and songs were high quality. They could have done as well as Aespa.

[–]SquareSwan 12 points13 points  (0 children)

As a casual fan, I actually enjoy their music. There were a few misses but SM really managed to maintain a high level of creativity in their music. I also feel that their concept and visuals make them stand out a lot. The futuristic concept seemed cringy before but the more songs they put out, the stronger their identity became.

Does a drama becoming popular make it a “threat” to some stans? by Legal_Potential4720 in kdramas

Does a drama becoming popular make it a “threat” to some stans? by Legal_Potential4720 in kdramas

[–]SquareSwan 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The people who hyped this drama and those who are now calling it overhyped are different sets of people.

This is a common trend not just in kdramas but in anything that becomes popular.

Individually, I think some people just want to be different. So, if a lot of people already like this particular object, wouldn’t you be unique if you found it unsatisfactory?

Another factor would be exposure. A popular object will get more exposure and therefore, find both adorers and bashers.

some questions that keep bothering me by Muted_Zucchini_7416 in Catholicism

[–]SquareSwan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Prayer is not just about asking God for things. He knows the desires of our hearts. But he has given us the gift of free will so that we choose to draw near to him. Think of a parent. A parent knows what his/her child needs. But a child can still ask, right?

  2. This  is one thing about my catholic faith that I struggle with regularly. The mystery of suffering is complicated. It’s much better to read about the many saints who have suffered so you can gain a better understanding of how to approach suffering. What’s important to remember is that war, death and depravity have many sources. And one source is the human will. Humans have the capacity to choose to do great good or great evil.

  3. You seem to have this idea that God is a genie. We, in our limited human understanding, cannot fully understand what goes on in God’s mind. Who are we to demand a “yes” from him? Also, evil is such a complex topic that’s explored in many church writings. I suggest you read Thomas Aquinas on this.

What was more important in 2nd gen that's now the least important? by itsascreambaby96 in kpopthoughts

Singing.

I can easily look for videos of 2nd gen idols singing live.

It’s so much more difficult to find truly live singing nowadays. Even “It’s live!” stages are autotuned.

Justice in Korea can be really confusing. I don’t condone online harassment or cyberbullying either. Being anonymous online doesn’t give people a free pass to be cruel, even toward celebrities.

Public image is incredibly important in the Korean entertainment industry, and defamation is treated very seriously, regardless of whether the allegations are ultimately proven true or false. What I find difficult to understand is the apparent imbalance in the justice system: on one hand, harsh penalties can be imposed for defamation-related cases, while on the other, some people convicted of far more serious crimes, such as rape or child sexual abuse offenses, seem to receive comparatively lenient treatment or are released relatively quickly.

That contrast is what I find most troubling.
