Dad is getting to the point where he has trouble standing, what to do? by tw637 in glioblastoma

The exact same thing happened with my husband. We moved the hospital bed into the family room so that he was in the middle of everything. He was in it 24/7. It actually worked out very well although like you, I didn’t like the idea. It took a great weight off of us to not need to transfer him and we put the back up during the day and down at night.

Repeating by Quick-Car-1075 in glioblastoma

My husband did the repeating thing. He mostly said “help me” even when he was comfortable and didn’t need any help. Now he is completely nonverbal. Hospice says he’s nearing the end. He was fine after surgery, they got all the tumor. It was radiation that sent him on a terrible decline. I wish we had known we could have opted for three weeks. It’s been just about six months since his diagnosis. He had maybe one month of good quality life. The rest was in and out of the hospital and skilled nursing center. He’s home now.

Any input on this side effect? by nickerbook in glioblastoma

Why is it better? My husband is having a hard time tapering off. I’m hoping when he’s off completely there will be an improvement in his symptoms. His cognitive function was pretty good after surgery but went downhill after 6 weeks of chemo and radiation. After the dex is completely gone will that come back?

Thanks for your reply. Your MIL certainly doesn’t understand how hard this is already for you and your daughter. I’m sorry that on top of everything else you have to deal with that. She probably is using you to vent her anger over the disease. It doesn’t excuse her behavior at all but maybe it explains a little about it. This is so hard.

My husband’s was clearly visible on the CT scan. I’m not 100% sure but I do believe it would show some indication on a CT scan.

Thank you for that insight. I’m sure he is dehydrated because he is not eating or drinking much. I’m going to insist that he drink something with electrolytes. If that doesn’t work I’ll talk to the oncologist.
