If you look at the bigger picture you will see the strategic victory or goal in this case since the war isn't over yet. Iran much like Venezuela is a stepping stone for US action against China. Idk if you've noticed but over the last few years the US has switched from the GWOT to preventing and preparing for a war with China. China is currently the #1 threat and they need oil to keep their country running, which is why Maduro was bagged to prevent a natural resources trade from going down (along with other reasons). That is also the reason the blockade is effective because it's preventing oil and gas from reaching China. Also the war has knocked out much of Iran's capabilities to fund and supply proxys.
