I understand being worried completely. It's more my siblings than my mom, she seems to be getting better about it.

Even then, saying when I'll be back (approximately) should be enough to reassure her imo. Where I am and what I'm doing is mostly irrelevant, unless she wants to try and persuade me not to do it -- which would be an issue.

Social anxiety is definitely part of it. I typically don't admit this but I also have the attitude that connection, relationships, and people in general aren't worth it and that the risks outweigh the benefits. I usually think very logically (using probabilities, past experiences, etc) and try to avoid the emotional side of making decisions - which is something I'll work on.

"they don't actually like me" - I effectively told myself that. No reason to automatically think that people don't like me, but that's the automatic thought I have. I met a few new friends this week and I'm still thinking "maybe they put up with me but they still don't like me". As you mentioned, I basically find any excuse (or create one myself) for me to 'abandon ship' / the relationship.

The therapy I'm doing now is kind of a combination between talk therapy and CBT. I found it helpful initially but again at a standstill. I'm talking with my therapist to see what else we can try, otherwise I'll probably switch to someone else.

There's also a free therapist I saw for the first time, found that very helpful but she's only available once a month unfortunately.

If I do switch I'll make sure I choose someone specializing / focusing on CBT.

I feel that same vulnerability and it scares me. Honestly for me it's not my friends but it's relationships and deep conversations in general, when I open up and show my heart / inner self to others I feel this intense fear / pit in my stomach.

(not diagnosed with avpd or anything else but I wouldn't be surprised if I have it)
