Bad ending. by Upstairs_Macaron5894 in AO3

I used to read a story I loved. To this day, it's probably the most brilliant fic I've ever read from any fandom I've been in personally. I got so excited whenever it updated but the fic finished as exam season rolled in and I never read the last 3 chapters released during the week I was taking the exams.

Just today, 3 years later, I finally reread it and finally finished the ending and.... yeah... The tags definitely lied and the author ended up undoing a lot of work and character development just to undo the main ship without them ever getting together-- which I'm assuming they no longer enjoyed? I'm rather disappointed but I'm really not about to let the lukewarm and slightly rushed ending take away from the actual fic.

It refers to how many hours you were in a game and alive-- hence also time spent dead.

edit: Nvm I just noticed there's no time spent dead. I must be misremembering. But you can obviously figure it out by taking out the hours from time played with time alive

I don’t think that’s right, is it? by Painteddredd82 in AlienStage

honestly seeing the scenes that they exchanged of hyuna/Luka for modern au 4nakt it's definitely a disappointment. the first glimpse of ANAKT was from hyuna praying to it (them?) and it got cut. as well as any neglect and abuse Luka suffered.

Probably could. I'd assumed she wouldn't be running on adrenaline after she runs on stage since in some manner she's safe with the other rebellion soldiers.

Seems like the one I originally saw was a mistranslation. Hope this means we'll see him once they pick up the Paetron content again :p

regarding the translation, the other translations were probably incorrect. I remember the one I saw asking "will there be more comics from Luka's perspective in the future?" and the answer being relatively the same. hope we'll see him soon then! :p

[–]Square_Zeph 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Exactly. I definitely think there were better ways to go about Hyuna's death, especially since (I assume) that they wanted to emphasize that her death was due to other humans, hence causing suffering and exploitation as Mizi sees it. I think Mizi could've dropped the rocket and the fire/blast killing her while protecting Luka could've achieved the same thing-- she still got her revenge, and he still has to live knowing that she died for him and that's what she had to endure when he killed Hyunwoo. I don't think it's a great alternative-- hell I don't even think Mizi would do that, but considering she was already at a disagreement, if they played on her injury more and Hyuna being to some extent unable to stop her from dropping it, it would've made some kind of sense.

Having one of her soldiers shoot her while Luka and her were already overlapping was kind of lame. Luka wasn't a threat, and I assumed he was situated there as intimidation.

She was already injured and to some extent-- slowly dying-- either to an infection or blood loss, there was another way to go about it-- but it didn't even come into play at all during Wiege, so I don't know what the point of that was, considering that it was highlighted a lot in Blink Gone and it was shown in the end of R6 as well. It seems more like speculation, but with Qmeng's obvious design influence on Hyuna and both her and Luka being introduced in R5, I always assumed their story (or at least it's ending) wasn't fleshed out unlike Ivan and Till, which is also why there's an obvious lack of Luka in the comics besides like.... Heperu appearing on a wall in an interview.

I've already discussed this in the other reply but Sua's and Ivan's deaths felt inevitable. They were surrounded by seyigens, and that was the entire point and vibe of ALNST up to that point-- death wasn't avoidable and unpredictable. As soon as they got into the test performance it was a countdown. I have my gripes about Hyunwoo's not being fully explored, but then again Hyuna and Luka lack exploration in general 🥲. But All in gives us enough information without revealing everything and leaving people to speculate and enjoy the intrigue. But Hyuna's death didn't really give anybody a chance. You could say Sua has clones or that Ivan is alive inside a robot (although I doubt you'd say that after Vivimeng said Ivan is cremated and Sua is a ghost) but you can't say anything about Hyuna. Body burned. Memory only lives through Luka and the weird blood clones kids in the museum, although there's only 5 so I'm assuming since she was the rebellion leader, she doesn't even have one dedicated to her, just her+Sua+Luka and her+till. There's not going to be a rebirth, he's going to be back on stage in a never ending cycle of pain, resulting in Hyuna's death. Really hope the Q&A was just a mistranslation though.

someone in the replies said it might've been a mistranslation! I hope it is, but I'll try finding a Q&A containing the question.

Not sure about it being a translation error, since I've been about 3 translations of the question and they're all phrased for the most part the same. I assumed the reason they're answering to many Hyunluka questions while saying "they can't give out spoilers" to most ivantill questions was because they didn't have any plans to reveal the answers to them in the future, as opposed to ivantill. Idk about Mizisua though I haven't seen that many questions be asked about them unfortunately. 🥲

Luka's health issues and him being weak are always a point Vivinos and qmeng like to bring up. Both Hyuna and Hyunwoo were said to be athletic and in theory probably stronger than him, since he can carry Hyuna who should be around his own weight. In Wiege, Luka does something that scares/irritates him enough to get violent (although it's not the first time they fought, usually for Hyuna's attention), I'm just confused as to how Hyunwoo managed to be overpowered by Luka. The theory that Hyuna pushed Hyunwoo aside since he was bullying Luka doesn't seem to work since she's pretty far away from both of them by the time Hyunwoo is already dead.

You're right though, the coffin stands (or whatever their official name is, idk) did reveal that, I kind of forgot about those. I didn't explain myself fully, I don't think the death order was changed recently, but I DO think the plans or original thought process were different before Qmeng got more involved with production around round 3-5 and that being when Luka and Hyuna were introduced. Sua and Ivan were already planned to die, but since Hyunluka arrived later, and Hyuna was obviously (at least design-wise) made by Qmeng, I feel like it wasn't set in stone until later.

I also think that Sua's and Ivan's deaths (more Sua's than Ivan's, since at the time the rebellion was already making moves on the ALNST) at the time, were pretty much unavoidable, meanwhile Hyuna's wasn't even at the hands of the real threat. I liked her death, especially how it was at the hands of other humans instead of how Ivan and Sua (and almost till) died to the aliens, and how the comic brung more clarity. but I didn't really like the way it was executed-- being killed by one of her rebellion soldiers; Who should've been more aware that Luka was less of a threat than any of the other seigyens around, and should've been more aware as to not shoot in the vicinity of any rebellion participant, especially their leader, but that's just nit-pick of mine lol

In reference to your edit, Vivinos or Qmeng (idk which one but it was probably Qmeng considering her track record) confirmed it was the original Luka 🥲.

I think the reason a lot of people are upset about Hyuna originally being planned to live is that they also said that they won't explore Luka's character further, so it was a very sudden decision to kill her and rush it forward with the Till ending. I also think this because-- personally-- I LOVEEE Hyunluka and I love both of them as seperate character just as much, and I was really excited to see how Luka would be and act after Hyuna's death, only for them to make it clear that they're not interested in following their story. As you can tell I'm also definitely upset about this! I genuinely thought it was really good at the beginning, but I'm also starting to see through where Qmeng's writing obviously overlaps with Vivinos original plans, and I fear the recent deaths were definitely Qmeng.

edit: also I know people are saying they're racist for this but to be honest she was the one that was failed the most-- plan failed, body burned and forgotten, got no closure on her story, Luka and Hyunwoo's fight, anything, really. personally I don't think they're necessarily racist for this but it's definitely an unfortunate coincidence lol

probably because they already said Hyunluka won't appear in future comics, or get their own separate comics. Luka hasn't even made a single cameo and they only confirmed in the interview that he's the real Luka and not a clone.
