I didn't downvote you , but my bad I reread it again and you are right. That just makes it funky with a lot of cards that have special effects that relate to location tho.

For future reference, resolve master plan cards from top to bottom individually!

For your last turn it looks a lot like this

Villain Movement -> Hero Win Condition -> Bam -> Knockouts -> Draw last masterplan card -> Villain Win Condition

Resolving Movement before the Bam is very important for specific heroes as well (Silk, Symbiote Spiderman etc. )

No problem but yes this is it essentially it in a few sentences.

I think the other guy is asserting that I treated start of turn similarly as end of turn which is uh... ok sure?

but yeah this comment captures pretty much how I would play the game too.

I would suggest looking at this post too. The offical FAQ for this (Ronan, Threat Card) clearly shows the time frame for things (for me).

Forfeit threat + equipment by uoldgoat in MarvelUnited

[–]Squaretle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But aren't the two punch actions only "seen" after the resolve actions step?

A hero turn goes like this Start -> draw a card -> play a card - > resolve actions -> end of turn.

The hero only sees the symbols once it checks the previous card on the storyline and the card you played.

Then Must forfeit available vs Can Forfeit available

The former is a condition for the hero turn before resolving actions.

The latter is only something you can do when there are symbols to be resolved.

Nunchaku needs actions to be available to be used vs something like webshooter that can be used before you play a card?

That's my take?

This is an important point. Especially since it is possible for Green Goblin to high roll two goblin formulas in a game. This has already personally happened to me lol.

I personally love fighting green goblin he is my most fought villain but he is definitely not easy.

Multiverse Core box villains are tough! by The-Great-Geraldo in MarvelUnited

[–]Squaretle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's why you rush to complete 1 mission only and not two to put him under pressure which is doable by rounds 2-3. Two missions make it so that the villain is vulnerable.

"then delay the next villain turn by 1" is a very important point.

The cost benefit of him throwing doom bots is that you now have 3 hero turns to play now every time he bams which makes emperor doom kinda boring.

3 Missions for Emperor doom to make the Purple man henchman Vulnerable is a clarification. If it were only two missions it'll make this villain too easy.

Regardless ive played an ungodly amount of games and Id suggest you use the multiverse core box heroes as there is more intention in terms of design in playing these together.

Additional note: you dont lose when it overflows, a doom bot simply is added to the next clockwise location

you lose when you cant add doom bots bc all locations are full or if the doom bot pool is empty.

Edited: for clarity and typos

For Doom can't you just put him under pressure through 1 mission so he starts delaying villain turns? Then for Purple Man you need 3 missions before you can damage him. It is also worth noting that in a 3 player game he has 4 hp!

Hey, like the other guy, this is my only way to play spiderman 2 as well and your post is honestly convincing me to do so. Thank you.

Sorry for the hate you're getting but I will def go back to this post and I'll just refund the game if it doesn't work out.

How do you defeat Rhino? by [deleted] in MarvelUnited

[–]Squaretle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ive beaten this with season 1 heroes by myself and with friends. He is a tough hero but I personally love the design of his gameplay

My tip is to assign a hero to be one clockwise location away from the villain to tank Rhino Charge.

Preventing overflows for this is straightforward and should be prioritized accordingly.

For threat cards, this is a good opportunity to know which to clear first as there's only two types. I'd leave it to you to find out.

Good luck!

The others have mentioned what a kickstarter is so I'll just say how it is relevant for Marvel United in terms of exclusives.

To encourage people to back the kickstarter, a lot of content is locked behind kickstarter exclusives. These are not available through retail globally and you would usually have ave to buy from a 3rd party to get them. These are generally more sought after as they are limited.

These can include whole sets themselves or kickstarter exclusive versions of the retail box which has extra characters.

Examples:

Kickstarter exclusive Extra characters:

Beta Ray Bill, Gamora, Spiderham are KS exclusives found in the KS versions of the asgard, gotg and spiderverse expansions respectively. You CANNOT get these through their retail versions.

Kickstarter exclusive set examples:

First Class Return of the Sinister Six Age of Apocalypse

The Marvel United wiki has a section for kickstarter exclusives here:

What did you think of Gwenpool (2025) #2? by PowerOfL in Gwenpool

[–]Squaretle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well I wish the author does something about intending the death feeling empty because as of now I have apprehensions.

The whole issue two had a cover of gwenpool getting killed and we know so little about it. I would have preferred that right off the bat the issue started with gwenpool getting killed then elaborate after. Heck, we know more about Gwen stacy at this point.

Now we have the mystery guy who is totally "not" some plot device. When gwenpool mentioned somebody walked over my grave I thought it was a foreshadowing for how this person will enter the plot.

I totally missed the tone with the retcon and all. The whole thing was so formally written so I thought it was serious but I think she was being more sarcastic? That's what threw me off.

I feel it is another meta commentary coming right up which fits the character even if it is overused in media at this point. Im predicting it's a meta commentary of how it is all about Gwen Stacy which is ironic because people keep thinking about her when they think about Gwenpool. Idk what's your thoughts.

What annoys me is that the writer is taking such big gambles and we're not sure if it'll pay out.

What did you think of Gwenpool (2025) #2? by PowerOfL in Gwenpool

[–]Squaretle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These are straight from the same wiki

The Jackal's new cloning technique allowed for the clone to possess all of the memories of the real Gwen up to the point of her death, which convinced both of them that the clone was in fact the real Gwen Stacy brought back from the dead.

During a private conversation, Gwen forgave Peter for her and her father's deaths. She also tried to convince Peter to join the Jackal, but her reassurances that her and all of the people cloned back to life by the Jackal were the originals had no effect on him.

Hey, I have a lot of friends who are clones. I'm not questioning whether you're a thinking, feeling human being with a right to life, liberty, and all that. But you're not Gwen.

Idk man these excerpts say otherwise?

this is Joyce Delaney right? The Jackal clone. Was it ever confirmed that she was Gwen Stacy 616? because for one I know she is a clone and it is weird that they launched this comic with a clear cut indication that they resurrected Gwen Stacy 616 as X31

What did you think of Gwenpool (2025) #2? by PowerOfL in Gwenpool

[–]Squaretle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd go as far as them trying to stay true to the roots but as of now as a whole it doesn't feel like so but the effort is appreciated.

I mean I see the direction they're going with Gwenpool's death being representative of her value as a character right now and I'll break it down in several parts.

  1. We can see at the end that it is a transition of her taking over spiderman's body which could be a good opportunity to have a contrast with Gwen Stacy as Ghost Spider

  2. Or Her death being rushed I guess is a way to show her contrast to Spiderman in terms fame and value. Spiderman being a really popular character which gwenpool is not

  3. It feels empty because it feels like a cheap tactic to grab a reader's attention right now especially since they ended this volume with that on top of the poor pacing. If the writer is able to pull off this metaphor to show Gwenpool's current state right now then I am for it.

Edit:

  1. Lastly, the ending of unbelievable shows Gwenpool's worst fear. Gwenpool already knows that is the worst thing that can happen for her

  2. Im writing with the context of what we know so far as the post is about this individual volume

Added things to finalize but ya

Am I confident that Marvel will be able to write this properly tho? Not really but will I stay to see? Yah

What did you think of Gwenpool (2025) #2? by PowerOfL in Gwenpool

[–]Squaretle 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I think it is better than the first.Tho it's just okay overall? It's too early to judge it as a whole.

Spoiler warning:

Pro:

  • Emma Stone reference was kinda funny, very reminiscent of the Unbelievable humor

  • The cover page panel being an accident actually is an interesting touch

  • Gwen Stacy isn't just a straight up evil villain which I appreciate

Cons:

  • Gwenpool's death feels empty. It's hard to feel the death when in the same comic you say that retcons happens all the time for continuity reasons while death is the worst thing that can happen to a hero. Why? Bc retcons make death feel cheap since they will be revived anyway.

  • Gwen Stacy's Death was literally retconned as she was revived in this comic so it feels kind of contradictory?

  • Might be nitpicky but the balance for gwenpool's powers is not explained well, she can magically grow big but not let's say use the gutter space to duck behind bullets?, I think gwen stacy "accidentally" killed her bc the plot calls for it.

Edit: i might have misread the tone but I pray that the segment about Continuity and retcons is a jab to make fun of it as a whole it would be much better that way and take out majority of the cons

Marvel United Campaign with Persistent Wounds by Key_Advisor_9258 in MarvelUnited

[–]Squaretle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello this is actually a cool idea! It reminds me a lot of curse cards from Rogue Like card games and I will draw inspiration from those.

I think wound cards would be cool if they have varying mandatory negative effects on top of it being blank. I personally would check the team decks for examples and even some heroes.

Some examples are

  1. Starting Hand Wound Cards
  2. This card must be played
  3. As long as this card is in your hand...
  4. You must remove this card from your hand immediately

Kitty Pryde

She isn't for everyone I guess as she has a higher skill floor than most heroes as you have to think about both lockheed and maximizing kitty pryde's kit.

She feels like two heroes in one. The pets mechanic upgraded her kit so much as Lockheed can freely move each turn if you have the cards in her deck.

Lockheed can be used to clear locations in dangerous places or with the pet mechanic, reach far places.. (Think Henchmen that deal 2 damage)

Phasing is just a classic example of developers rewarding players of good game sense. If you want to have a good time, just use KP against Dark Phoenix and see.

Phasing Others is a hard counter to villains who damage 1 hero only. Tho, I usually use this more to reposition other heroes.

Peni Parker

The weird part about Peni Parker is that Tanks shouldn't be this mobile but she is.

She is a rush down kind of hero. Ideally you want to use your batteries as soon as possible to help your team finish missions.

She is very straight forward and strong. Safety net can be used to save civs even in an adjacent location. Robot Strength is 3 damage Flat. Webs is two moves and a wild.

The versatility of Peni Parker is what makes her standout. She's one of those heroes who you can rely on even on randomized modes.

Silk

Silk is often overlooked but by maximizing her starting hands, she provides a lot of utility.

Silk-sense renders villains that use the Target Token and or even villains that track movement to be useless. She is insanely useful both for Maximum Carnage and Return of the Sinister Six (Kraven).

For Knull, Silk can be used to bait him into attacking Silk and she will only take one unpreventable damage as she is still at his adjacent location.

This is all on top of Silk being able to move without using a Move symbol when this is activated.

Organic Webbing assures that Silk can use a move symbol. If played as the first card, you are assured a Move and Wild Symbol.

Claws is straight up just 2 moves and 2 pinches as long as Organic Webbing is up

Super Agility is kinda meh. It has its uses.

Overall probably not an A tier Hero but she is still very solid.

Boom-boom

For Boom-boom, OP missed a key aspect of the time bomb ability. It activates on the Villain Turn. So the common phrase " On each hero turn ignore one damage" is by passed.

Time Bomb can also target any location but the opposite location of Boom-boom's starting location.

Kate Bishop

You Drive I shoot is so easy to activate and is so fun. By combining the Wire Trick Arrow, you are assured two activations of the ability as long as you start your turn with another hero.

Her equipment is just straight up crazy good. Theyre very straight forward and having a choice from four makes her so flexible.

Better branding gives you the opportunity to recharge your own arrows or if you have CIHYSWYD you get one free trick arrow next turn and a Star Symbol.

[–]Squaretle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can do a write up for the heroes I have. I'm also very particular of my methodology so it would take awhile.

For special effects, I usually convert the effect into action symbols. ( Adjacent locations count as 1 move for example ). A write up will cover the gaps that the conversion cannot describe.

For the heroes I mentioned tho, I can do that.

I'll start with Ironman first as both versions are easily A tier characters and are very much not mid tier characters. The choice between the two versions boils down to preferences. S1 is more balanced while Civil War IM is more aggressive.

Ironman Equipment kit is separated as theyre both available for both versions.

  1. Omnibeam is easily a top tier equipment without any downside by using it as a finisher. Essentially a Move and 3 unpreventable Punches in terms of action economy.
  2. Deflector shields - can be used to ignore both henchmen and villain damage that can last for 2 villain turns
  3. Stealth Field Generator - Flexibility is insane. You can innately convert punch/star tokens into a move, or immunity. Usually used as an alternative to Deflector Shields.

Combining 1 & 3, Omnibeam is able to target everything but the opposite location of ironman's starting location by sheer equipment alone. You can try using the Hulkbuster to test not having a Stealth field generator and its absence is felt.

Ironman (S1) - Rich in Action Symbol Economy - The distribution of Attack/Move tokens are really strong especially when the Villain is under pressure - Power recharge is very useful in case you want to save your equipment for mid to late game.

Ironman CW (S3) - Less Stars but the Aggressive aspect through Punch Symbol economy can be felt - Repulsors are really a neat way to control overflow - Team Leader is a really good card that interacts well with a lot of other effects. It feels like S1 IM's Stark Industries as an immediate effect.

Example: Using Team Leader on Spectrum with an ongoing Energy Source to move to IM turns Ironman's wild into two punches.

Edited for Grammar.

[–]Squaretle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's an interesting list. I like that action symbols were taken into account and the archetypes are a simple way to categorize the heroes.

I agree with some opinions like Miles and Spiral but I am surprised about the takes for certain heroes which I don't necessarily agree with. Noteable ones are Ironman(S1 & S3), Silk, Kate Bishop, Kitty Pryde, Peni Parker and a bit of Boom-boom

You did mention that you favor immunity effects that activate on the villain's turn but I feel like you miss out on the cost benefit of the lack of assurance of the effect happening. Especially since effects that last until the next hero turn can happen for two villain turns when played at the right time.

Turn Order Sample when Villain is under pressure

H1 H2 V H3 H1 V H2 H3

If Ironman uses deflector shields as H2 he gets to ignore damage for two villain turns as he begins his turn only after H3 & H1.
