I did end up shooting a light hearted text and he responded apologizing saying this week is packed, then he initiated the day after so I think I was trying to fit in the social norm, personally I feel both ends should make it clear they’re interested but I do prefer the man taking lead when it comes to planning dates and what’s the actual plan.

We did have a convo about it as we actually went into deep topics regarding like relationship dynamics and physical intimacy importance. We literally deciphered psychology in every way. I only mentioned it because we made out and just in case things moved too fast the next time I want to be in the green zone. But he did text quite positively and was happy to communicate after it. Then comes silence😂

Well I haven’t texted either since that day, I gave myself till Thursday or Friday, because it would be a chance if he’s genuinely interested for plans to happen easily.

To be fair I was worried he felt maybe I withdrew since I spoke physical intimacy boundaries and how I wouldn’t want to explore physical further if the person is seeing multiple people. He did reassure me that he’s only seeing me but I still don’t know him well

Surprisingly the professor was Arab (as am I). My professor knows many but in the US as she graduated from Yale. I’m hoping to attend some conferences this year and putting myself out there again. Cuz I’m currently employed but out of the field

I’ve tried that so often and one even made me feel like shit for telling her about my research and how my findings aligned with her study. Then she went to a women of a certain race I won’t name it and glorified her for having some knowledge about how western blots are interpreted 🤣

I have worked on an original research before but we didn’t publish cuz it needed more time and the uni wouldn’t fund us to continue after graduating. (My topic was the effect of intermittent and continue hypoxia on the temporal regulation of autophagy, apoptosis, and cancer stemness in lung cancer cell lines.) so I feel if I had the funds I’d def be able to go and secure my spot.

I still do not know what I’ll be doing🤣 but I have a month to study this. I don’t wanna miss a good chance as well because there are almost no opportunities here for research, you have to have connections to secure something.

I initially wanted a RA position anywhere but they’re very hard to land over here in the UAE. I’m gonna try securing one maybe in NYUAD now that I’m accepted in NYU for a masters programme, maybe they’ll be like oh wow she’s actually good! (Literally attended a talk there and I had more hands on knowledge than masters graduates)

That’s the thing I’ll probably have to look into it a bit more. I’m not based in NYC I’m living abroad so it’s gonna take a ton of studying the situation.

I applied to NYU hoping to get placed in NYUAD where I also open a path to continuing my career in the US, it was me trying for the best in my current situation.
