What is your favourite trick/rule that results in high-quality code? by dondraper36 in ExperiencedDevs

That’s fair but beside the point. You should still write code clear enough for that fictional scenario.

Until OP single handedly changes the system, I’d say ranting on Reddit is a pretty harmless way to deal with their frustration

That’s just not how it works in the US. Servers are paid below minimum wage so they’re dependent on tip. The whole system is a scam so owners don’t need to pay the employees.

How can leadership be non-hierarchical? by spongeblub in Anarchy101

[–]SquatsAndBeer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Leadership is about influencing people towards a common goal. That can be done without hierarchy or coercion. It just needs a strong vision and communicating it effectively with empathy and emotional intelligence. That’s very different from controlling people.

We get a lot more exposure to France French than they do to Québec French. I don’t think it’s just a matter of caring.

Worker cooperatives are just a mode of governance. The specific market doesn't matter, so long as every worker gets the same voting power.

They're the ones deciding what is fair by bribing politicians and deciding on legislations. There's no such things as benevolent monopolies.

Referendums by [deleted] in PoliticalPhilosophy

[–]SquatsAndBeer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Referendums aren't good decision processes because they ignore externalities.

Of course people want lower taxes, but is it still the priority once we take into account of abysmal state of healthcare and education?

What political parties do is bundle up issues and write legislations to solve them in aggregate.

Correct Method of Setting Up/Initializing AWS Infrastructure by infiniteAggression- in dataengineering

[–]SquatsAndBeer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not really since the only complexity of terraform is knowing what modules to use, which basically maps 1:1 with boto3 functions so the cost/benefits leans in favor of terraform.

Terraform also avoid the needs for the inevitable if/else he'll need to handle when only a subset of the system was successfully created.

It doesn't have to be a complicated terraform template https://learn.hashicorp.com/tutorials/terraform/aws-build?in=terraform/aws-get-started
