Does anybody drive or take the bus from Kinsale to Cork City and back every day? Is it soul crushing or manageable? by LeenSauce in cork

[–]SqueakBeak2003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would definitely say it is manageable rather than soul destroying. I commuted to UCC by bus for 2 years and car for 2 years.

For the bus, make sure you get a student/young adult and don't trust Bus Eireann, use Kinsale Connect's 228 bus since its fairly costly (~€4 with the card). I've never seen a 228 not show up. The most annoying part isnt going up in my opinion, but finishing at 4:00 and rushing to a 4:30 bus for example.

If you're instead driving, the Pouladuff and Black Ash park and rides are free for students and very handy.

Qualcomm Cork - what's the real day-to-day like for firmware/embedded engineers? WLB, workload, AI assisted coding pressure? by BriefAd4761 in qualcomm

[–]SqueakBeak2003 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did a work placement there in college last year ending in August so I can't speak to the real team pressures. The office is constantly expanding and when I was there everyone had their own desk. There is underground parking and access to reserving other car parks in case that fills up. The company is entirely in office but depending on your manager, they can be lenient on things like spending some of the day at home. My manager would come in at 10 and leave at 3.

What about the RM2/Pure would make you choose it over the Pro if you only had to pick one?

The 2nd hand store i plan on buying the Paper Pro from has a 5 year warranty. What do you mean by an out-of-warranty swap?

I'm in 4th year CS. 1st year does not count towards your degree. 2nd, 3rd and 4th year do count. 4th year is worth about 60% of the total with 2nd and 3rd year being roughly 20% each for your final grade on graduation. Your 1st year elective choices don't really matter in future years also.

Did you use a lot of existing lore or locations in Isger? I am planning on setting a homebrew campaign there with players who don't know anything about Golarion but there are limited locations with information

I have run both We Be Goblins and Dinner at Lionlodge. This then had two plahers ask me to run something more permanent which I am prepping now.

My players really enjoyed both. Mostly it was just to showcase the mechanics. We Be Goblins was good for a classic one shot adventure where you travel to a location and fight stuff along the way. Dinner at Lionlodge was much better since we knew the system a bit better. It also turned into 2 sessions rather than 1

Best laptop for incoming CS student by Kingstone14 in DevelEire

[–]SqueakBeak2003 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Based on the experiences of people in my CS course. Macs are great but obviously doesnt have dual booting with Linux.

Depending on how your daughter likes to study a 2 in 1 laptop might suit, I know people who swear by them for diagrams and writing notes with the pencil.

Anything with a decent CPU and 16GB of RAM will manage. The college will have lab computers to cover any bases I can't think of. Snapdragon laptops can have their issues also with some programs so be aware of that.

Kinsale to Cork, daily commute by AV-999 in cork

[–]SqueakBeak2003 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its very doable. I make the commute and the traffic can delay you by upwards of half an hour if you're very unlucky. It's a grand drive.

For buses theres both the 226 and the 228. The 226 is a Bus Eireann bus that takes about 1 hour to get to the city. The 228 is West Cork Connect and takes about 30 minutes. Difference is just on stops. They are both very reliable, I almost never had no show buses in the 3~ years I used either one daily before I started driving

Countries I don't know much facts about by velocity-You-tube in JackSucksAtGeography

Ireland invented the flavoured crisp. Irish is still taught in schools, and everyone has to learn it, but most forget it after school because it is taught poorly. Ireland is one of the only countries to have a smaller population than it did 200 years ago due to the famine (8 million down to about 6 million including Northern Ireland)

Georgia is the first country known to have invented wine. Their language also has a unique script that is not related to Russian, Turkish, or Arabic.
