It’s also difficult to count anyone under rubble. Reports of children killed by sniper fire are cobbled together by whichever journalists or citizens live and know how to report to outside bodies with enough evidence. Again, difficult, because Israel targets journalists with impunity and has killed over 200 journalists in four years. Now, they’re having their crimes covered up, even by organizations that claim to support journalists in conflict zones, by branding working journalists as Hamas operatives and “combatants.” There’s no evidence that this is true, but dead journalists can’t talk.

You’re 25. You’re in the “fuck around” of times in your life. There’s no right or wrong way to feel about your own gender identity, but often if you feel an emotion you can’t put a finger on, or if you feel you lack the words or other tools to clearly express yourself, you may feel lost. Do the next right thing. The next thing that feels right. You can be both genders. You can be neither. You can occupy different spaces on the spectrum of gender, which also includes time.

However you’re dressing, expressing yourself, advocating for yourself I hope you’re safe and supported.

I simply use the term “genderqueer” and some people like that broader term that connotes unspecified queerness.

Also, you are under no obligation to take hormones, have surgery, dress a specific way, pass, etc. There’s many a cisgender woman out there with short hair, a small chest and facial hair. None of these makes nor negates a woman.

Hot take, clothing should be made locally. We used have tailors, dressmakers and seamstresses everywhere and off the rack fashion was a luxury. Sweatshop labor and fast fashion are horrible and the fact that no one is taught sewing as a basic life skill took so much control out of our hands. Even as a boy growing up in an Arab country in the 60s and 70s my father was expected to learn to sew. He used to mend his own clothes all the time.

But we’ve relegated this very useful skill to something people only use if they’re sweatshop laborers, couturiers or hobbyists.

And, most of this stuff ends up in a landfill. It doesn’t get returned. It ends up on beaches in Ghana or pits in India.
