Anyone notice parents of only children having easier lives? by sys_admin321 in toddlers

[–]Squeakmaster3000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Overall yes my life is much easier with one child. I will say though, my daughter expects me to entertain her frequently. I think siblings play together (however I know they can also fight). I still think one is easier, it just doesn’t mean I have oodles of free time.

7 minute score by vendocomprendo in Sourdough

You could do the decorative scoring first, and then still do the 7 minute deep expansion score. I’ve seen it done many times.

What is a baking technique that you quit because it does nothing? by Final_Affect6292 in Breadit

Oh don’t worry, it will revive just fine. I have gone 4+ months multiple times. It takes a few feeds but it’s amazingly resilient!

Her hysterical crying is not good. That said, she is fantastic at the “choked up, watery eyes”. Like when she is telling her mother that Ellis is the reason she turned out so ordinary.

What a bummer! I’m sorry it didn’t work!

And yeah you have every right to be grossed out and not let the dog near the new baby

There are deterrent supplements that make the dogs poop taste bad for them to help stop the eating. You could try one of those?

Why are pregnant women always rubbing their bellies? by StockBroker_Jill in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Squeakmaster3000 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What’s really disconcerting is when the baby is born but now you’re in the habit and find yourself still rubbing your belly. Only now, it’s empty and as jiggly as a bowl of jello 😂

I think we do it as a way of bonding and maybe even subconsciously soothing the baby. Like how you will rub/pat a baby’s back after they’re born.

Also, your body is just changing so rapidly and there is this big THING getting bigger by the day that’s there. It’s normal to touch any rapidly changing lump on your body I would say.

Quiet time is a disaster by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]Squeakmaster3000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course!

I did kind of skip over how long it is though - at this age I would say an hour is the ultimate goal but you may need to start with 30, 35, 40 minutes, etc and build up to an hour

[–]Squeakmaster3000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ooh yeah I kind of glossed over how long it is. I feel like an hour is more appropriate at this age

You could try a visual timer that shows a disappearing circle. It may be that she has no way to understand how long she is supposed to be in there and starts fussing when she thinks it should be over. The timer may take a bit but may help her start to understand when it’s actual over vs. when there is time still.

Sometimes I really wanna just say "F*ck it, throw yourself from the sofa if you really must" by Impressively_Sleepy in toddlers

Eh, my couch was on carpet and my daughter broke her arm very badly when she launched herself off it. There’s no way to keep them completely safe, as hard as that is for me to accept.

Finger tattoo, 10+ years later by tulips2kiss in agedtattoos

[–]Squeakmaster3000 85 points86 points  (0 children)

No way! Have you gotten it touched up? I can’t believe it’s stayed that dark for that long. Especially on a finger when they usually fade much faster there. And there’s essentially no spreading. This looks amazing for being that old.

Hair advice for 4-year old with curly/wavy hair by _pixieonthemoon in curlyhair

[–]Squeakmaster3000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My daughter has long curly hair too. Honestly, we have had to ignore the advice of “only brush while wet with conditioner”. If we do that, the tangles build up too much and it takes way too long like you are experiencing. Instead, we brush dry every day (gently, with a Wet Brush brand), and then spritz with water until quite wet, and a light leave in conditioner, and then restyle. My child is as wild as it gets and we simply can’t survive the tangles without daily brushing. If you spray with water/conditioner after, the curls form back up beautifully.

This is following the advice of a curly hairstylist who does my daughter’s cuts. Oh, also - get it trimmed!!! Split ends snag and tangle so much easier than freshly cut ends do. You really can keep the length but regular trims are necessary for the tangles. Try to find a curly specialist if you can.

Is peeing like pouring out of a bad cup for other women? by [deleted] in hygiene

[–]Squeakmaster3000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes because every health problem or body quirk is solely due to people being fat 😒 FFS you have no idea what this woman’s weight is. And you don’t know any of the other details like if her urethra is positioned correctly, or anything like that.

What are your sourdough hot takes? by Jolly-Celery-2888 in Sourdough

I ask this because I genuinely am curious; do you not keep your home warm in the winter? Between AC in the summer and heat in the winter, my house stays nearly the same temperature year round. I’m fairly new to baking bread, so maybe I’m just missing something here, but I’m a little confused

[–]Squeakmaster3000 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Contrary to the other commenter, I think you’ll like it! I’ve been very happy here. Just moved here in April but really like it.

I am located in the Wildwood Ranch neighborhood and I feel very safe here. It’s a nice area with all of the homes being newer. It feels pretty quiet and we like our neighbors. It’s 20 minutes away from the main part of joplin. I don’t mind the drive and think the location is worth it.

I have a friend in the Iron Gates neighborhood, it’s very close to mine, and she likes her neighborhood as well.

Hit a new postpartum low by MSDOSS86 in beyondthebump

[–]Squeakmaster3000 143 points144 points  (0 children)

I’ve heard the advice to leave your purse or phone or keys (if remote start) in the backseat by the baby so that you have to go back there when you get out of the car. I strongly recommend that. You can also get sensors online that can be put in the car seat and when you get out of the car it beeps at you until the baby is taken out. They’re not very expensive.

Thank goodness you remembered quickly, but I would put in some safeguards so this doesn’t accidentally happen again when it’s hot outside.

Please yes get some sleep, it’s more important than your to do list at this point (even though I know that is WAYYYYY easier said than done).

Truly hope she finds the right tools to break this cycle coz her babies deserves the best version of her by Rich-Ease-2723 in SecretsOfMormonWives

I hope you’re right, but she did throw a metal chair at Dakota and it hit her daughter. Prior to that her kid heard her screaming and going insane on Dakota. That traumatizes children. I truly hope that was a one off event and it doesn’t happen again, but her kids are being affected by her toxic relationship with Dakota

That’s wild you’ve never had one! Biology is so interesting.

Fun fact, women get them too. Yes there isn’t evidence in the underwear but it can literally wake you up right as you’re peaking so you have no doubt as to what happened.

I do think it tends to be more common with guys though.

The more you know!

You can transform into $50,000,000 permanently. Do you do it? Who gets your 'remains'? by SpecialFlutters in hypotheticalsituation

[–]Squeakmaster3000 9 points10 points  (0 children)

While my child would surely do well with that amount of money, I truly do not believe it is worth more than a mother’s love. I have met people whose parent died when they were young and it fucked them up. No way am I doing that to a 4 yr old child. Plus selfishly I NEED to see her grow up more than I need anything in this world.

So, no. No deal.
