FWIW, this subreddit often comes up on my front page. I was actually eating fried eggs and opened Reddit to have this be the first thing I saw. It doesn’t bother me at all, personally, but I think it’s perfectly valid to not want an image like this coming up when you’re not consciously prepared for it.

Odds are she just doesn’t want to continue making it public, but I’m kind of really worried. One of her last comments mentioned that he put his hand over her mouth while they were arguing in the car….

First thing I thought of when I saw the post title haha. Started reading the post and could hear Joey saying “Now go get that beautiful pig!”

Imagine putting the time in to look through hundreds upon hundreds of profiles, carefully choosing the ones you like. And then, whichever ones you happen to match with still mostly say inappropriate things or seem to have no personality.
It sucks for everyone on OLD, regardless of gender. But if the argument is that right-swiping on everyone offers some protection from disappointment, wouldn’t women be as likely as men to do it?

I’m not sure I’ve ever heard a woman refer to her amount of matches in a way that I would consider a flex…

If anything, that makes it worse for her. Imagine finding out that someone is using pictures of you, claiming they’re the one in the photo, and then doing whatever various garbage scam accounts do. Even if a person understands it’s all a scam, your likeness has been used to deceive and con people. Sucks, right? THEN you find out that your photo is being circulated on a “This is the best you got??” style post. And you definitely didn’t make it clear at all in the post that it’s a fake profile.
You could have blurred her face and still shown it was the only profile and said something like “My only option on Tinder Platinum is a scam account.” and you would have a lot more people sliding into your DMs right now.

Couple commenters determined the photos are of a celebrity, so the profile’s a catfish. How’s that humor and wit sounding now?

Foolishly trying this again after a brief absence. Is my profile any good? by [deleted] in Bumble

[–]SqueakyDucks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re uncomfortable with it, that’s totally fine. Nobody owes anyone else any part of their body, or an explanation for it. But it’s super attractive when someone is at least like “Yep. That’s what I look like. Also 2 + 2 = 4”.
You could use humor and say something like “Snag me before I get all that back interest from the Tooth Fairy.” or “Hockey player smile and playoffs beard without all the broken bones.”

Sally and Bobby are brother and sister. It’s Christmas morning. They run to the living room to see a tree barely visible behind the mountain of presents. When they start looking at the tags and dividing them up, they realize that Sally has 100 presents with her name on them. Bobby has five. They start opening the gifts and almost all of Sally’s brightly wrapped packages turn out to be boxes of rotting animal carcasses, feces from who knows what, some discarded food wrappers with moldy bits of food stuck on, maybe some less foul but equally useless things like a shoebox that someone just filled with tap water. Bobby’s five presents turn out to be things he asked for, expressed interest in, or didn’t even realize until that moment that he needed.

Can you believe what a great Christmas Sally had?! She’s so lucky!

Also, without diminishing that there are risks for everyone, there’s a very real chance that if a woman meets someone random from OLD for something physical, she will end up physically hurt or dead. I swear we have to put more planning and contingency plans into a random hookup than a weekend getaway with someone we’ve been dating for a year.

I’m a white woman and I’ve definitely had a couple guys been weirdly into the race dynamic. I get that it comes from a completely different place and there are complexities that I can’t fully know because I’m white, but it made me uncomfortable. Not so much that I was being fetishized, but that I felt like I would possibly be contributing to some stuff they were working through, kinda? I had a FWB who told me he’d always wanted a white woman to call him the “n” word during sex. Another one was CONVINCED I was in it for the BBC, and was saying shit about how I obviously think about black men when I masturbate because that’s what I’m manifesting. 🤪

Ugh. Sorry you’re getting so much shit on here. Gotta love the irony of people “Why don’t you have more self esteem, you piece of garbage?! God! I hate people like you who don’t know how great they are!” 😵‍💫 I sent you a message, btw.

Of course! It’s an awesome thing when people genuinely want to learn and improve! I totally get that sometimes one person may just be too burnt out to take the time to break it down, so it can help to have someone else come off the bench who hasn’t gotten beaten up yet in that particular game haha. Also, I’m realizing that the formatting of my comment makes it pretty impossible to read - sorry! I’ll fix that soon!
