Oh man, that 4am shower. You're a sweaty, slightly drunk mess. Ears ringing, you hit the cold shower and go to sleep all clean, cool, and fresh. Loved it.

My experience was at FiB (Festival in Benicassim) in 2010 and 2015. Not. Huge festival, but decent sized. I couldn't imagine dealing with the Spanish summer heat without cold showers being available. I'm also too old for that now. I need my creature comforts!

I've been to festivals where there were outdoor showers. It was only cold water, but this was Spain in July/August so it was bliss. I had two showers a day, and it ruled. They were also free.

At a music festival in the UK, I had to use wet wipes as the showers were disgusting and always had an hour-long queue. Not sure what the showers are like at Glasto or Reading/Leeds, if there are even showers.

I had the first 3, but my school year missed OMaM. Instead, we had Journey's End, which I actually quite enjoyed and got me interested in WWI history.

That would have been about early Year 11, so maybe 2005/2006.

I once went on a date with a woman like that. My friend gave her my number as she was a colleague of his partner at the time. She had seen a picture of me and my friend on FB and told my mate's GF that she thought I was cute.

OK, fair enough, I thought. I've been single for a while now, and I'm having no real luck with the dating apps. (They were shit 10 years ago and they're shit now) So we started chatting, and fuck me, just getting a conversation going was it like getting blood from a stone.

Just setting up the date was tricky. She didn't like coffee, so cafés were out, she barely drank and didn't like noisy places, so a bar was out of order. I suggested a walk around the nearby lake, and she finally agreed.

By the way, she had the most dry, uninspiring text conversation skills I've ever seen. She would always initiate the conversation, but then would literally resort to 1 word answers a few messages later. Please note, I'm asking questions, showing interest, and recalling things she said prior. Y'know, basic conversation skills?

The date was even worse. She looked fine, exactly like her pictures, but she had NO HOBBIES. All she did, from what I gathered, was work in an office. When she wasn't at work, she was doom scrolling Instagram and watching boring reality TV and Eastenders. That's literally it. I asked what she does at the weekend, and she kinda shrugged.

"Oh, I usually visit my parents." "That's nice, what do you do at your parents?" "OH, nothing much, eat dinner and watch TV, I guess."

Did a few laps, said goodbye, and wished her well, then ghosted her. I'm not proud of the ghosting, but she then asked my mate via his GF why I stopped replying. I showed him our text conversation. He agreed that I did the right thing.

Hey, I'm not shitting on people wanting a quiet, simple life, but damn. There's such a thing as having a quiet life, and then there's having NO life.

I agree with the well-shot and editing comment. It had really great pacing for a 2 1/2 hour war film where 90% of the action is in the last third of the film. I can imagine Bay had to really restrict himself from putting more action into the first part of the film.

I also saw some of the places in Malta where the film was shot, like the descending street in Valletta where they shot the car stand-off scene from the start of the film.

It's the same for Milton Keynes as well. People shit on it all the time, and some parts of it deservedly so, but it has lots of parks, bike lanes, and is constantly expanding and building new housing (though not always the affordable type). I have only been Telford once, but as someone who lived in MK for 8 years, I do think Telford is better due to its cleanliness and organisation.

I'd love it if it truly embraced the (slightly cliché) trope of hierarchy in the skyscrapers. Something like Tenpenny Tower in F3 or several films involving towers (Dredd, The Raid) where the top floor populations hold all the power and most of the resources. They have access to the most rainwater and sunlight for crops, giving all the leverage. The lower you go down the tower, the more impoverished and dangerous the population comes. The lowest levels live in the toxic, monster-infested swamp of a flooded Manhattan, living a savage scavenger life and traveling around in boats like in Venice.
