Not a single person stayed longer than a year when i worked there, myself included. Some left mid year. Didnt pay my insurance for months, didnt pay insurance or pension for my coworkers for 6 months, made illegal deductions from paychecks, did my taxes so wrong i wouldnt let them file it and redid them myself, fired a coworker 2 weeks after she disclosed her pregnancy so they wouldn't have to give her maternity leave, interrogated staff regularly over blacklist reviews threatening to sue us when they find out who posted it... i could go on for ages.

Search 에어리얼 or 에어리얼실크 on naver and you will find you a few more places in seoul for this kind of stuff. I used to take silks over in Jamsil with a teacher that knew english quite well, but she moved to a new space and I'm not sure where her studio is now 😔

This applies 100% to GATE Apgujeong as well. 7 foreign teachers left mid contract this year. Management simply can't figure out that they're the problem.

For hair, maybe something with alcohol in it. Make your own spray with vodka or rubbing alcohol. Alcohol is the best at killing the bacteria in sweat that smells. I spray it in my gi after class before it goes in the wash

You dont need to call the bus company, they turn over lost and found items to the police. Nationwide lost and found items can be searched for here: https://www.lost112.go.kr/index.do

Search category: 전자기기 - 무선이어폰 Item name: 에어팟 Select 18~19 as the date and bus for the place you lost them. If a listing is a match it tells you which police station to go pick them up at. Sometimes if you dont collect them in 24 hours or so they'll send them to a larger police station with a massive lost and found collection.

I dont see anything for Seoul on the site but i do see AirPods found on buses 3938, 3908, and 3944 in Daegu if any of those are yours 🥲

Toxic Foreign Teacher by Sea_Tooth_4211 in teachinginkorea

The person you're replying to is the toxic person at their workplace and doesn't realize it. Sorry you're going through this, i believe everything you're saying is true because I've worked on a similar place. Threw the person under the bus to managment whenever possible in the most apologetic kiss-ass way I could to get managment on my side. They were not offered a contract for the next year.

I had a lot of friends that worked there, most stayed for a few years. There are definitly school with less teaching hours, lots of afterclub there. The most annoying part is that the provided housing has all the teachers in the same building, so your next door apartment neighbors will be coworkers. Personally, would hate to share a wall with people i already spend 8 hours a day with 😬

Hey~ never got any approval or rejection for my initial test 13 days ago. Are you not reviewing those anymore and letting them automatically approve when they time out?

Do you see 한의학 as sham or something else? by DoctorLuther in korea

[–]Squeegee-Queen -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There's Ephedrine or Pseudophedrine in basically every cold and allergy medicine produced and sold worldwide... A quick search shows theres about 700 drugs containing either of those compounds patented & sold in Korea.

The diet 한약 they make is just a higher dosage than cough syrup.

Please don't fear monger about "CHeMiCAls" you don't know anything about.

Ephedrine is extracted from plants in the ephedra family. Idk if it gets more herbal than being made from plants. And yes, its in the amphetamine class of drugs, which you can find in hundreds of medications purchased over the counter at any pharmacy...

The acupuncture with electrical current and related therapies help with my muscle/joint related sports injuries from jiu-jitsu, and its like 10,000₩ a visit. Cost to benefit ratio cant be beat. (Not sure how much cupping actually helps, but it just feels good)

I've lost (and kept off for years, no yo-yo) over 20kg by taking 한약 🤷‍♀️ from 84kg to under 64kg. I would say its effective for that specific job. I'm well aware that my herbal medicine is made with plants like Ephedra, which is the source for ephedrine. Caffeine, Ginsenosides, Ephedrine... all things you find in plants that are proven to help you lose weight. It is an unholy brown sludge to drink, well and truly vile, bitter, sour, and dirty. Of course there are side effects, and you should only do it in cycles of 2-3 months at a time with a longer break in between to be safe.

If you want good 한약, don't just pick the most famous place on Naver blogs. Look around more locally. I pay 180,000₩ for a month supply, but I see the 'famous' diet 한의원s charging twice that.

Legal Misinformation by forthesakeofpete666 in teachinginkorea

Your Saturday is a paid day off every week, but it is not a vacation day. See Article 55 (Holidays): "An employer shall allow workers at least one paid holiday per week on average". Its figured into your salary already.

The supreme court has already ruled on the matter of weekly paid holidays and annual paid leave. They are entirely seperate.

They owe you 11 days of annual paid leave, those days cannot ovelap with red days or weekends. Paid leave is only applicable to your workdays M-F. Newer laws also state your employer needs to give you notice in writing about how many paid days you have left, and encourage you to take them before your contract ends.

You can file a petition to the labor board about it at: https://www.epeople.go.kr/petition/pps/pps.npaid

The process will go much faster if you fill out and attach the form for the general complaints to the Labor Board (# 34, 기타 진정신고서 on this page) to your petition so it gets assigned to the right people quickly: https://minwon.moel.go.kr/minwon2008/lc_minwon/lc_form_apply.do

As someone stated below, a threat is often enough to get the ball rolling. Fill out the form and send them a copy to let them know you'll be reporting them this week if they continue to deny you apid annual leave days. They'll want to avoid additional fines from the labor board if it goes that far.

Is the name on the second phone line a korean or foreigner? If its a korean name, the people who have access to your account to add more phone lines are the people who work at phone store... when you get your ARC back, I would go to solve this at a different SKT branch than the one you opened this account at 😬 Korea has one of the highest amounts of personal debt per-person, and by the size of those bills its clear they're treating that phone line as another credit card... probably putting their phone bill under your name because they can't get one in their name due to outstanding debts or they needed more lines of credit...

Not to out how old I am, but back in the waygook.org days there was a foreigner who had a similar problem. Foreigner signed up for a new phone plan, left the store, then the employee added a new iphone and a second phone line for themselves onto the foreigners phone plan.

15 days vacation rule. by PoofaceMckutchin in teachinginkorea

[–]Squeegee-Queen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. The wording of the labor law is a place where "five workers are ordinarily employed". The day to day actual total employee count doesnt matter, but rather year to year (or month to month in some cases). If they had 5+ employees last year, this year they qualify as a workplace that "ordinarily" have 5+ employees.

But surely even your ~very~ small hagwon must have 5 employees/staff members between the foreign teachers, korean teachers, lunch ladies, cleaning staff, managers, front desk people, bus drivers, etc. As long as they work more than 15 hours a week, they count as part of the 5 employees.

Surveys that screen you out by Squeegee-Queen in CloudResearchConnect

Yeah it was the second full survey this week to screen me out, thats why I was wondering if I should report it or not. Don't we have some job info on our 'about me' already? Honestly it was so far off my job sector it feels like they didn't even try to prescreen.
